Transaction History

On the right you see all of my transaction history. In the beginning, I was a very conservative buyer, and only buying no more than 5 quality of each stock. I realized quickly that this was not going to provide any revenue within the time allotted for the stock trak assignment. This pushed me to buy much higher quantities. In these next few slides I will discuss these purchases and why I purchased them.

The Start of the Portfolio

As you can see, the bulk of my beginning transactions were very small quantity. The first purchase was my company that I am following for the course. Next from INMD going up to ZNH (other than GE), I purchased stock in these companies because of the easing of Chinese Government restrictions because of COIVD-19. I predicted that most of these companies would bounce back in force and provide ample revenue. I had hoped that because I was purchasing at a low price it would go up and wherever it landed would at least be above the purchase price. For the most part they have all increased, but not as much as I had hoped. I also didn't purchase enough stock to gain much revenue.

The Start of the Portfolio Cont.

The reason I invested in GE, GOOG, AMZN, SONY, and CAT were because they were companies that I knew and were confident they would bring returns. What they and all the other stocks above GOOG also have in common is they are on the S&P 500 index. After learning about it and looking into it with further depth, I felt that monitoring that index and investing in those companies would bring the best return. I also felt that buying those stocks would be less risky. I also invested again in SYK because they were predicted to continue having good returns.

Recent Activity

As we move further into the semester, I started the to realize that I needed to do much larger purchases to bring in more revenue. I wanted to condense my portfolio spending a little bit as well. Instead of purchasing a bunch of small qualities in tons of companies, I wanted to make larger purchases in well known and successful S&P 500 companies. I found that banking on the success of the S&P 500 seemed easier and more reliable. The only ones that don’t reflex that is the ALGN, BSX, and MDT. This is the other companies in my group, and the PDT one is from the assignment activities.

Current Position

Currently, I am holding most of my stocks. The stocks that I am invested in that are on the S&P 500 have continued to rise and fall, but seem to be trending more upward than down. Every week I have thought about selling I was surprised to see the continued increase of the index, and have been holding on because of the fear of losing out on profit. Now I am trying to determine when I should sell.

Another position is I need to sell some of my beginning stocks. The quantity is so small they don't really impact the portfolio returns, and just make the portfolio more cluttered.

Market Changes

One of the most recent changes is the first drop in CPI since 2020. While it was only a .1% drop it was enough to cause a huge skyrocket in stock revenue and prices last week. This cause my total portfolio returns to increase by about 1.5%, but it was short lived as the returns have stabilized back down (Kourkafas, 2022).

Another major market change was the rise of funds rate by a 75 point basis. While the rise did not come as a surprise it caused most of the stock prices to drop a substantial amount. It is predicted to increase as well (Mahajan, 2022).

Possible Future Changes

This one may be tricky to identify, but I would like to see if there are any future mergers coming soon and invest in them to see the change in stock revenue and price. The normal trend is that it is suppose to increase dramatically, and if there is one soon, I would like to be on the positive side of it.

I want to try to diversify my portfolio to move away from some of the risks. It is discussed in module three how that diversification is a good thing. I think that my portfolio is pretty diversified, but it is also spread to thin. I need to get rid of some of the smaller quantity, early stocks that I purchase, so that it is not cluttered. After that, I need to take a good look at what markets I am most heavily invested in, and determined if I have invested to heavily into one. I then want to extend my portfolio into other markets as well.
