Lesson Plan Template
Assignment: 3-Day Lesson Plan Course: SSE 3366 Explanation of Artifact: Candidates will create a three-day inquiry-based or issues based lesson plan on a topic of their choice. The lesson plan will include NCSS national standards and NGSS Florida State Standards for social studies. The lesson plan will follow the lesson plan template used within the secondary social studies program. All materials as well as a list of questions used for discussion must be included in the appendices.
General instructions:
· You are required to use this format and it must be of such quality (both aesthetically and content-wise) that it could be placed in a teaching portfolio.
· Sufficient detail must be provided so another teacher could teach the lesson.
· In the Strategy section, specify the instruction strategy and approximately how much time you will spend on this during the lesson.
· In the section teacher talk, content, and student practice, you are to:
· write a teacher’s script,
· include the content for instruction and learning, and
· what you expect students will be doing during this time.
· In the section resources & course materials, you are to specify what materials will be needed to complete this section of the lesson.
· Delete template instructions as you complete the lesson plan for a quality, finished, professional product.

Lesson Plan Title: [This should be a short, “catchy” title that not only conveys the main gist of the lesson but also attracts the reader’s attention.]
High/Middle School Social Studies Course: (U.S. History, Civics, Economics, etc.)
Academic Level: (Regular, Honors etc.)
Grade Level(s):
Time Period: (50 minutes, 90 minutes, etc.)
Materials/Equipment: [List everything you are going to need for your lesson; and again, be specific. You think you will remember to bring copies of the rubric and your laptop, for example, but better list them under materials just the same.]
Essential Question: [A “big picture” question the students should be able to answer at the end of the lesson.]
Learning Objective(s): [Write objective in behavioral terms stressing the student learning behavior and anticipated outcome(s). Try to emphasize higher-order thinking skills (last three levels of Bloom's taxonomy: Analysis, Synthesis, Evaluation), whenever possible. Objectives may cover skills as well as knowledge (cognitive, affective, psychomotor). Do not be concerned with success criteria --- that will be specified in the Assessment.]
NCSS Theme(s): [Identify which of the ten NCSS Themes are covered by the lesson, http://www.socialstudies.org/standards/strands]
Florida State Standard(s): [cpalms.org]
