SPT 492 Final Project Part One Guidelines and Rubric

Overview Internships offer a preliminary view into the industry and career path you have been working toward throughout your academic experience here at SNHU.

Through this internship, you will have the opportunity to challenge yourself by applying theoretical knowledge and program outcomes; communicating ideas,

suggestions, and relevant information; identifying areas for professional self-development; and reflecting upon the experience gained.

In this assessment, you will reflect on your internship experience by creating an internship brief. The real-world working environment is dynamic and complex,

and some things can only be experienced in an authentic setting. Your internship brief will look at how the things you learned in the classroom translated to a

real-world work setting, as well as what experiences, skills, and knowledge were evidenced in either the classroom or the work environment that were never

revealed in the other.

In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes:

 Apply theoretical knowledge and program competencies in solving practical, real-world problems within a professional setting

 Communicate ideas, suggestions, or relevant information in a professional manner appropriate for the sporting industry

 Identify opportunities for self-improvement within a professional sports management setting

 Articulate how knowledge and experience gained via the internship can be effectively implemented in achieving professional goals

Prompt This guideline will help you address the three components for Final Project Part One, the internship brief. In this assessment, you will develop a brief that

summarizes your internship experience. Your brief will reflect on how concepts, theories, and practices are used within a real-world workplace, and how they

can be applied to your future professional goals.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

I. Place

A. Describe the organization where you completed your internship and explain why you chose this company.

B. Explain your duties and responsibilities within the organization. Include your reasoning for selecting this specific internship opportunity.

II. Programmatic Knowledge

A. How did the projects in which you were involved allow you to demonstrate your knowledge, skills, and abilities in meeting the outcomes of your

program?

B. Describe an experience that required you to apply management or leadership theory. How did your experiences allow you to demonstrate what

you have learned? Support your response with examples.

C. Describe the differences between the theories you learned in the classroom and the workplace practices in this internship experience. Support

your response with examples.

III. Future

A. Describe a situation or event that took place during your internship that you had to respond to. How might you respond differently to that

situation in the future?

B. If you had the opportunity to do this experience over, how would you approach it differently and why? If you would not have approached

anything differently, explain why not.

C. What would you like to have accomplished that you were unable to do because of time, other priorities, and so on? For example, was there a

project or another opportunity you were involved in that you were unable to finish? Support your response with examples.

D. Describe the professional opportunities or possibilities this experience has opened up for you.

E. Describe the impact this experience has had on your professional goals.

F. Explain any insight that you gained from this experience that you could not learn in a classroom setting, and include why this insight is

important.

Milestone Two: Programmatic Knowledge

In Module Five, you will submit Milestone Two, in which you will address the elements of programmatic knowledge you have assimilated from your internship

experience. This milestone will be graded with the Milestone Two Rubric.

Final Submission: Part One Submission

In Module Seven, you will submit part one of your final project. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final

product. It should reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This submission will be graded with the Final Project Rubric.

Final Project Part One Rubric Guidelines for Submission: Your internship brief must be 6 to 8 pages in length. Use double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins.
