Sports Conditioning Plan Table of Contents (TOC)
These major projects are designed to have each student leave with a Sports Nutrition Plan and a Sports Conditioning Plan targeting a particular
sport at a particular level (e.g. U14 girls softball). Opportunities to share your plans with others in the class will be given, but these are individual
projects that each student should do on his/her own. The purpose of sharing is to compile a notebook of resources at the end of the semester.
For your specific sport, age, gender, & level, develop a Sports Conditioning Plan that will take your athletes from pre-season to post-season in
the area of conditioning. Be sure to include more than just strength training in your conditioning plan. A plan with only strength training is an
inadequate plan for any athlete. Below is a table that will help you in making sure you don’t miss any necessary components.

This plan may be adapted to be bi-cyclic or tri-cyclic to fit your schedule as described in Table 12.1 on p. 271. You may move when the phases
are to fit your sport. This is just to get you started. Include a narrative of how this plan might differ depending on position the athlete plays. Note
that you may put “N/A” for each component of the training program does not apply to your athletes or list specific positions that need these
components addressed during that phase.
See CH. 11 & 13 of Foran text and/or supplemental readings in Modules 11 and 12 for assistance with specific sports to complete the outline and
table above. If you include information from sources other than those provided in this course, please make sure they are credible sources and
cite all your sources at the end of your plan.
Sample of One Week Workout Plan During Season
Include frequency, intensity, and duration for your sport in some sort of table format. See Ch. 13 for ideas on this. Each sport will look very
different here.
Coach’s Notebook Table of Contents
What you deem to be the most important components to incorporate into a desk reference for you. Add components for conditioning that
mimic the Coach’s To Do List or the Coach’s Activities from the Bonci text that you think are crucial to a successful Sports Conditioning Plan for
your sports team. You have to be creative here as it was not provided to you, but think about some of the other concepts we discussed such as
injury prevention, commercial fitness programs, websites where your athletes may be getting inaccurate information. There is no need to show
the actual documents, but include the list here of what you will come back to fill with handouts and resources to give your athletes. Only
include/adapt what is most pertinent to your sport and what you will use with your team.
You will be graded on completeness of your plan, accuracy of information provided, appropriateness of plan to your specific population,
appropriate citation of your sources, grammar/spelling according to the following rubric
