Speech 2: Informative Speech (80 Points)

Assignment description: Refer to Chapter 15 in the textbook for a refresher.

Assignment details:

You must speak for 4-6 minutes

You must turn in a PREPARATION outline to Brightspace by class time.

You must cite at least 3-5 sources cited both out loud during your speech and on your outline. Remember that you must cite a source anytime you are giving out information you obtained from somewhere else.

You must use one visual aid, this can be a photo, video, object, clothing, etc. You will be graded on the appropriateness of the visual aid, whether it enhances your speech, and does not distract from or take up too much time from your speech. Refer to Chapter 14 for a refresher.

4. Preparation

-Typed outline turned in before you give your speech

-Outline includes a specific purpose and central idea at the top

-Speech is within 4-6 minutes

-Well practiced speech that includes a visual aid

-At least 3-5 sources that are cited out loud during the speech and on the outline

-Outline includes a works cited page that follows APA or MLA

5. Delivery

-Good eye contact with your audience

-Limited use of verbal fillers

-Discuss topic in a way that is appropriate for your audience

-Enthusiastic and confident voice

-Good pace and tone

-Effective use of hand gestures

-Smooth, polished delivery that is clear, well-practiced and easy to follow
