Special events managers help business that host events for customers, tourists and employees to handle their events successfully. Event managers plan and organize business, social and promotional events. They are tasked with running a wide range of roles to ensure that the target audience is engaged and the message of the event is marketed properly. Events play a profound role in the success of a brand. To be successful in their work, special events managers must possess a number of skills.

One of the skills that a special events manager should have is excellent interpersonal skills. A special event manager has to work with a team of other people to ensure that the event is successful. This implies that a special events manager should have the ability to tell and listen without any challenges. He or she be able to interact with team members without any friction. He or she should be able to manage the team effectively and communicate well with other team members. A special events manager should be flexible. When planning and organizing events, nothing is fixed. Things can change, which would require a special events manager to adjust accordingly. He or she should be ready to face any type of situation and be able to think on their feet. The third skill that a special events manager should possess is creativity and innovation. A special events manager need to see and do things in a different way. This requires creativity and innovation.

Comparing the above three skills and abilities that a special events manager should have, as a special events manager I possess two of the three. I am a creative person and I also have interpersonal skills. I need to work on flexibility so I can become an effective special events manager.
