Concept Statement
Peter Grinspoon, a contributor at Harvard Medical School states in his article titled “Medical marijuana (2018)” that medical marijuana is “…quite effective for the chronic pain that plagues millions of Americans, especially as they age. Part of its allure is that it is clearly safer than opiates (it is impossible to overdose on and far less addictive) and it can take the place of NSAIDs such as Advil or Aleve, if people can’t take them due to problems with their kidneys or ulcers or GERD.”
There is an incredible need for not only medical marijuana but also local dispensaries that can distribute cannabis. This need is especially greater in a state such as Florida, as 65 and older seniors contribute about 20 percent of its population; making it one of the states that have the highest population of seniors next to Texas and California (Himes, Kilduff, 2019). Using this information, we must understand the importance of medical marijuana and the facilities needed to distribute such a product to South Floridians. On June 16, 2014, Governor Rick Scott signed the Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act, allowing millions of Floridians access to medical marijuana circumstanced under certain qualifications.
SOuTHC would be a local south Florida licensed medical/medicinal marijuana dispensary and smoke shop that will cater to the needs of these individuals meanwhile following all local laws and rules governing the selling, distribution, and consumption of products sold. Meanwhile also selling smoking paraphernalia, such as pipes, and water bongs for max profit.
