Urgent: Cultural Analysis of Urban Politics Essay

Here’s a small piece of writing from a warm up I did on the topic 

Behavioral materialists believe that freedom is living a life of plenty. As long as you are able to obtain any material thing, you should be happy, theoretically. Those who subscribe to brotherly love believe that freedom means feeling at home in the world, and getting into politics to make that happen for the community. 

   One problem we examined in class was poverty. Behavioral materialists would handle poverty by trying to give money and resources to the poor. They would try to provide opportunities or more minimum wage jobs to give them a better chance to 

make money. 

They would assume that poverty is partially a result of being lazy. Brotherly love constructivists would try to put the poor people in positions of 

power in government. After the people who were living in poverty have power they would reconstruct the economy to better suite their community. They would promote people coming together to create change they need to see to live the ideal life. Laziness would not be considered a cause of poverty.
