Week 11: Ethics and Challenges

Throughout this course, you have been exposed to many different aspects of criminal behavior. You considered the definition of crime and reflected on who might be considered a criminal. You examined biological, psychological, and sociological theories and approaches that may be used to understand and explain criminal behavior, and also examined characteristics and behaviors of various types of offenders. You likely have formed your own opinions about the causes of criminal behavior. In this final week of the course, you consider ethics and challenges related to conducting research in criminal behavior.

Learning Objectives

Students will:
  • Apply ethical principles and standards for conducting research in criminal behavior
  • Analyze challenges related to criminal behavior
