Sociology G100: Assignment #1

In class, we discussed three key theories of sociology: structural-functionalism, social conflict theory and symbolic interactionism. For this assignment, you will need to select a social issue or problem. Briefly describe the problem, select a theory and apply the theory to the social problem you chose. Your paper should be approximately 3 pages in length, typed, and double-spaced. No outside research is required. I am less interested in your accuracy in describing the social problem than I am in your application of the selected theory.

· All paper should be 12 pt. font and double-spaced.

· Though citations are not required, any outside source must be cited according to APA format.

· Papers should be written in third person.
