Social Media Ethics

In many cases why is it ethical to fire or punish employees for their posts on social media? There are some posts which even the society would not accept while there are other posts acceptable by society. For example, it would be ethical for an employer to punish an employee who makes a social media post that is against the ethics of the organization. For example, when an employee tweets something racist, then the employer has the ethical right to either punish or fire the employee because it is against the ethics of the company. However, it would be wrong if an employer fired someone for something ethical. For example, if an employee posts about the wrong things happening inside the organization, it is wrong for the employer to punish or fire him/her. This is because the employer is infringing on the freedom of speech of the employee.
