Rough Draft of Invent-a-Club

Social IT

Colleges and universities are the most important experience a person should have in life. Higher Education, in general, has so many to offer especially when interacting with students on campus. There are a lot of opportunities within clubs in universities/colleges where you can develop your social skills and the knowledge you need for you in the future whether it’s in the workforce or in your social life. I’m here to interduce you to the new club that I have invented for you and the rest of my dear friends and family at Nova college. Therefore I’m proud to say that at the beginning of 2020, our club “Social IT” will bring you unlimited opportunities to learn from each other and get the help we need from Nova college to provide us the tools to build our unique environment.

Clubs usually tend to be based on the area of study you are in or a major your interested in if you are not sure if you want to be in an IT major; this is where our club can help you with, to give you the information that will make it clear to you if IT is a good fit for you or not. Clubs are beneficial to students because of its great networking place to join with other students within your major and often the school connects clubs with professionals from the IT industry to allow you to take a peek of what you would expect after graduation. Clubs are a great place to take a break from academia, also at the same time, it forces you to be productive with the time you have after school.

Since I’m a student like all of you, most of us agree that we find it difficult for something to keep us motivated especially in the middle of the semester. Therefore, I’m here to ensure that scientists have proven that being involved in school can elevate your chances of being at the top of your classes. In addition, studies have given us evidence of the effects of being involved in clubs in universities/colleges such as developing a mature interpersonal relationship that helps a person to accept others and that would build your self-confidence (Abrahamowicz, 1988; Hood, 1984).

Therefore, our club gives you a chance to learn and practice leadership styles, which is an important aspect of being in a team player. despite the things you would learn about technology in our club, here in Social IT, you would learn how to manage your time, planning, organizing and most importantly decision-making (Kuh, 1995).

There are numerous universities that offer similar clubs and that motivates us to beat them in what they offer to their students. Nova College has the integrity to give us more of what you will ask to be at the top of your productivity. What we try to achieve is to give every IT major in this school a playground to create, dream, innovate and to expand your imagination.

Additionally, we plan to provide you an opportunity to collaborate with companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Association of Information Technology. The social IT club will be planning to join the nationwide competition in cybersecurity in the future. A lot of universities such as UMD (University of Maryland) are joining competitions and winning an award, especially their students are making a name of themselves. Our main goal is to think of every way possible we can build a strong base environment that you will thrive on.

As you all know, after graduating from college, companies want you to have at least 3 years of experience to get a job in the industry. One of the things that companies look for is not only being a tech-savvy, but they also look for your social skills and soft skills that you will learn in our club since Nova colleges have a good rate in diversity, its an opportunity to be in our club. Anthony Bruce, a partner in PwC’s UK Human Resource Consulting practice stated “More focus is needed on teaching soft skills,” also the International Baccalaureate Organization have made it clear by saying “The world of business is, of course, one which requires working with people, relating to people, and STEM is also an important set of capabilities, but we’re trying to entwine them with diversity too. It’s this combination, alongside creating an environment where employees can thrive and be successful, that will be most important in the future.” “I imagine more could be done in school and university systems to create places where people can learn to work in teams and understand the dynamics of workplaces, so there could be more focus on teaching those skills alongside STEM subjects,” and from this last quote I have mentioned from them, we want to do our part in putting you in competitions to build your resume for you. We want to build your confidence, for you start to look for jobs after you graduate.

In conclusion, the Social IT club seeks to build a strong family to build each other and to provide you what you will need in your daily life. Technology plays a big role in our world today; that is why I chose to invent this club. Being social is a major key in technology because one hand can not clap by itself. Here in this club, we promise you that we will do our best to keep you happy, energized and ready for the world to benefit from you. We want to be one of the top known clubs in Maryland and hopefully one day we will be known across the country. The social club is excited to have you and meet with you to learn more about us. 2020 will be a great start for you to be a major player in our team and to build your future and let us be a part of it.
