Social Change Essay

For this essay, write a 5+ page MLA formatted research paper documenting a contemporary social issue. Use news reports, academic journals, published books and articles, and your own analysis to describe a problem you believe is negatively affecting a group of people, then offer an actionable solution for those involved. There are three pieces to this project: an outline, a full draft with preliminary research (grade cannot be revised), and the complete paper with MLA formatting (due as your Final Exam).

Rubrics:

-Outline (50 pts): Title, section subheaders each with 1-2 sentences describing content in each, and an Annotated Bibliography (See Canvas Assignment page for more information)

-Full Draft (100 pts): Grammar/Mechanics, Complete introduction with description of issue, 5 sources mentioned and included in argument, at least 2 solutions examined, Works Cited page (MLA format not required)

-Final (150 pts): Grammar/Mechanics, Description of issue, Analysis of research methods and variables involved, investigation of who/what is at stake, evaluation of solutions, MLA formatted paper and Works Cited page

Final Rubric (150 pts):

-MLA formatting: margins, header, font, spacing: 30 pts

-Grammar and mechanics: 30 pts

-Three MLA formatted in-text citations: 30 pts

-Work Cited with at least five academic sources (books, journal articles): 30 pts

-Researched, actionable solution for your selected social issue: 30 pts
