Step 1: go to the GSS Data Explorer website: https://gssdataexplorer.norc.org/ (you don't need an

account to explore GSS data site. But you are more than welcome to create an account. )

Step 2: click "Search Variables" (the one on the LEFT of the orange button for creating an account), once

you click that, you'll see the next page: and enter the key word "drug" (Tip: be very general in your

search term, if you enter "drug abuse," it might only give you ONE hit and not necessarily the variable

you might be looking for. But if you search "drug" you'll have a lot of hits and the variable(s) you are

looking for.)
