Homework Assignment 2

Section One (9 points)

List 9 (different) social changes that might occur in the future; one social change for each of the 9 social institutions: family, education, religion, government, economy, sports, military, mass media, science.

NOTE – Complete sentences are not required here, but one word answers will not be enough. I recommend a full sentence to explain your change.

Section Two (12 points each for a total of 60 points)

Pick 5 of the 9 social institutions listed above. For each, write 2-3 paragraphs discussing how the social change would affect each social institution. Be sure to talk about the essential tasks of these social institutions and remember this is looking at society from a macro perspective.

Section Three (6 points)

Pick the 1 social institution (from the 5 in section two) that you feel will be the most heavily affected by social change in the future. This should be a 1 paragraph discussion listing the key points and should NOT include anything already discussed in section two. This section should focus on why it will be affected more than the others not what will happen to the social institution.

NOTE – No APA or MLA is required for this assignment. Please be aware the entire assignment is based on your hypothetical look at the future. That means quotations from sources and the textbook are not needed for this assignment. I highly recommend you use the textbook to help clarify definitions, but do NOT cite anything within your assignment.
