Professor: Jes

Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience that USA FIFA World Cup rankings have over the years been on the downside with very few appearances on the winning side having made one appearance in 1990. This would be solved by equipping potential and veteran soccer players on crucial skills that would help them remain relevant in the game long after retirement.

Central idea: Lacks of broad skills and knowledge on various sporting aspects, especially soccer, are some of the contributors to poor performance of USA in World cup FIFA tournaments. In the solving of this problem, it would be by empowering players in various skills.

INTRODUCTION

I. I. It is unbelievable that a country such as the US lacks distinction in soccer, and are distinguished in various fields such as basketball and American football.

II. I am here to tackle the problem of why USA performs poorly at international tournaments.

III. USA has great opportunities at excelling in soccer tournaments if its invests in equipping their players with skills that will help them advance their profession locally and internationally.

IV. This speech will look at the loopholes in USA soccer and how this problem can be solved with empowering players. It’s my belief that this knowledge will be distributed if all stakeholders in soccer participate at empowering players.

Transition: First, I will explain why USA performs poorly at international soccer.

PROBLEM

I. Poor performance is due to lack of skills in the profession. A. An article by a sports coach indicates that both players and coaches need to equip themselves with crucial and important skills for better performance (Goldsmith, 2018).

Learning, practicing and mastering a basic skill is a strong foundation in coaching and sports performance. Skills in this article are referred to as the ability to perform a sporting skill consistently well at speed, under fatigue and pressure conditions in a competition environment.

Transition: These are some of the hindrances to good performance of the soccer game in USA.

SATISFACTION

I. We can improve the soccer game in the USA by investing in players. This investment would be done by helping them gain skills and knowledge beneficial to their career.

A. Training in sports management and business administration is of importance. Sports have a way of bringing people together in ways that nothing else can (Tang and Blackman, 2018). Through experience, we have seen that sports bring people from different countries, races, ethnicities and backgrounds together.

B. Though people view sports as merely activities, sports in essence are businesses. Coming up with ideas such as use of artificial grass pitches ensures income generation since people are assured of football pitch to practice from (May and Parnell, 2016).

C. Investment in sport management could also be done by applying a development of theory. Practice as well as learning is forms a firm ground on good theories that guide explanation, prediction and effective management of the sports enterprise (Doherty, 2013).

1. Competence and leadership skills are also important at helping improve the soccer game in UAE.

A. (FIFA RULES) When looking for international players, majority of soccer clubs want a player who is competent at their profession, obeys the rules, laws and regulations that govern the profession. A leader should be aware of their roles and have a leadership style that is beneficial to both the players and their coaches. A positive relationship results to a competent sport instructor staying longer in the organization and portraying best performance (Woo, 2018).

B. Good leadership skills and competence provides young and new coaches with an overview of existing research of a leadership development method for improving their leadership skills (Johnson, 2018). The same writer acknowledges the fact that leadership development method is important in engaging coaches who desire to improve their leadership knowledge and skills.

C. Training on transparency and accountability is another crucial aspect in leadership and competence. In a study on FIFA, questions were raised as to whether FIFA officials are accountable in their dealings. For the USA, one would want to avoid corruption and unethical issues in training their players.

D. Another practice that would be beneficial is educating the professionals in the field of soccer on steroid use and their effects. After all, steroids are not beneficial to one’s body but rather affect coordination of an individual.

E. Mastering first aid skills and playground injuries: Knowledge in first aid skills and playground injuries places a player at a better position in their career. The knowledge gained helps one advance their career even to levels of referees at international matches (Pranic, 2015).

CONCLUSION

1. There are problems that bring about soccer failure in USA.

2. This speech outlines potential solutions in addressing these problems and ultimately results in better performance even globally.

3. Sports and education are s great tool in a human’s being life. Let us all invest in it.
