As we have learned, there are many ways in which and reasons why humans cross borders in all parts of the world. For this discussion prompt, we will reflect upon the ways in which we determine whether or not a person or group of people is “from” a place.

1. think of the home community with which you are most familiar and describe what the “typical” resident looks like there (Write “Taiwan, Taichung”. Said that because I’ve been living there since I was young).

2. How does a person know if they belong there? (Asian faces, how we speak Chinese the tons pronounce are different than China…etc).

3. What indicators might a person or group of people experience that would signal that they do not belong there?
