Snell's law - Introduction
Snell’s Law
Experiment #10
Introduction:
Experimental Setup:
· Lens, Cylindrical D-Lens pasco OS-8492
· Laser
· Ray table with stand
· Viewing screen with 2 binder clips
· Table jack
· Optics Track
Diagram: Procedure part 1 Procedure part 2
Experimental Procedure:
· Place the ray table and viewing screen on top of the optics track.
· Place the laser on top of the table jack. Lift and aligned so that the laser beam will go straight through the middle of the set up.
· Place the cylindrical D-lens on top and in the center of the ray table so that the laser beam will go straight through the middle of the lens.
· Collect 5 data points from the laser beam hitting the straight edge of the cylindrical lens as it is rotated and 5 data points from the laser beam hitting the rounded side of the cylindrical lens as it is rotated.
· Record in data table.
