This is the previous homework and down below in the last page you will find the second question in a picture. Please answer it in ONE page and briefly. also, do your best to keep it in the same writing style. NOTE: ISSUE, INFORMATOIIN, PERSPECTIVE, ASSUMPTION, AND CONSEQUENCSES.

Thanks

1. What is the bioethical issue or decision at hand?

The bio ethical issue at hand is that Fang Yin who is the wife of Chang Fin, does not want to give up her baby on the pretext of sex of the baby. Chang was so concerned about sex because in China One child policy is quite strict wherein each couple can only have one child. Chang and his family have been constantly pressurizing her to have a boy and if in case sex determination tests show that a girl is going to be born then the family would be willing to bear the costs of abortion but they did not want a baby girl at any cost. So, should she have sex determination test or no?

2. Who must make the decision(s) related to this issue?

In this scenario, the decision is in the hands of Fang Yin and if she feels that she has got the strength to later on stand her ground when a baby girl is born, she would have to lie about sex determination test.

3. What factual information is relevant to issue and those making decisions?

The salient facts for this case are that:-

a. China’s policy of one child per couple

b. The boy’s family willing to pay all the expense incurred in abortion if a girl is born.

c. The boy, Chang wanting a boy to carry the name of his family forward.

d. Abortion is legal in China and lying about sex determination test might fall heavy on Fang after the birth of girl child.

Stakeholders -

1. Who are the stakeholders in this situation?

The stake holders in this scenario are the family members of Chang, Fang and the baby inside the womb of Fang and indirectly the entire society as this scenario represents one of the millions of such cases.

2. What values are apparent for each stakeholder involved?

Chang and his family- they are concerned about the future name of their clan and knowing that one child policy cannot be trifled with, so they do not wish to take risks with this baby.

Fang- She being the mother has emotional attachment with the baby as she has cared and nourished for it inside her womb.

Society- This one off case can impact many other families and wives and the babies who are inside wombs

3. What immediate priorities are apparent for each stakeholder?

Chang and his Family- Checking for the sex of the womb and hoping it to turn out to be a male

Fang- Safely able to give birth to her child without any issue of abortion or any risk to her as well as baby’s life in the womb.

Alternatives and Tradeoffs

1. What, if any, are the alternative courses of action in this situation?

Fang should sit down and try to console her husband’s family about the child and if that does not work, she should think of other alternatives like adopting a male boy and keeping the girl child alive.

2. How would each stakeholder be affected by any or all of the alternatives?

The family need a male successor so they might find this alternative to be good enough or if they are too down trodden then in that case they might not accept someone else’s blood to succeed them. The mother is going to be happy no doubt as she would be able to keep her child alive.

Solution

1. What solution(s) would you propose to resolve this issue?

It is essential to notice that the well-being of mother is really important and if the child she has in her womb is being killed, that might leave her in a traumatic condition. This would mean that later on the women would not be even willing to bear one more child as even that might be a girl and then again lead to abortion. So instead of keep continuing with this chain, they should understand that this is a natural selection and one should not worry about it to the extent where it can put a strain on the relation of husband and wife.

We should understand that a child is a child and in the modern era one should not worry about the sex of a child as it depends on the manner in which he/she is raised is what decides their future.

They should hope that a boy is born but if he is not then they should be happy with a girl too and if that becomes impossible for the family to accept then they should leave the decision up to the wife and husband to decide what needs to be done and let that be the final decision. Adopting a boy is no where restricted and they can be happy with that scenario as well as they will have a male child to be one of the successor.

2. How would you convince each stakeholder that this is the best choice?

We would convince them that this is the best for the family and they should respect this decision instead of spoiling the life of wife, Fang psychologically as well as physically. We should make them understand that this is something which every family will be facing in China and they should not consider this as a calamity or ill luck for themselves alone.

Please see this question and see how the previous homework is done; however, I need it to be answered in one page and briefly. Also, try to follow the writing style.
