SKILLS TO A SUCCESSFUL PROJECT

Taking a project from concept to completion is not an easy task. It is therefore important for the individuals and members of the team to have various skills that will enable the project to run smoothly to be successful (Young, 2016). Some of these skills include;

1. Being a good communicator

Communication is a very important skill in the project running, one must be able to communicate effectively and understand the others and being understood as well. The crux of any relationship is good communication and so the efficiency of an individual’s communication has an impact on the overall team and clients and the stakeholders (Bens, 2017).

2. Critical thinking

Critical thinking is the basis of all decisions that are sound. A critical thinker will be able to consider the pros and cons of all potential answers to a certain problem. It is this skill that separates people who are adept at solving issues and those who are not. Developing this skill requires practice and tools which can be helpful in logically structuring arguments prior to coming up with a decision.

3. Problem-solving

The capability of the project team members to solve both major and minor problems related to technological and business problems tells a lot. Therefore team members need to be continuously refined especially as the technology is evolving.

4. Basic project management skills

Since the managers are no longer the first contact to clients as it used to be initially, all the members involved in the project should have basic customer/client management skills so that they can be able to answer any question which is asked by clients about their portion of the project. For instance, project teams should have basic analytics skill as a wealth of project data which they hold (Hoda, & Murugesan, 2016).
