Instructions: Review each item below and determine your current level of proficiency and the importance the item has for your career success. Use a scale of 1 to 7 (where 1 is low, and 7 is high). See Part 1, Item 1 below for an example, and then overwrite the sample ratings with your own ratings for this item. The gap for each item will be automatically calculated. Interpreting Your Results: In the example, the gap is -5. The large negative number indicates an item where current proficiency is low and career importance is high—so, this might be an item to address. A gap represented by a large positive number (e.g., 5) indicates that current proficiency is relatively high and career importance is relatively low. In this event, you would not want to pick the item as one to address. Write Reflection Summary: Use the text box at the bottom of the page to write a reflection of 400 to 500 words describing the gaps you will work to reduce, why you selected them, and the activities you will pursue to develop your selected competencies. Choose at least one from Part 1: Leadership and at least one from Part 2: Strategic Decision Making.

In my self-assessment, I have identified two significant gaps that I aim to reduce for my personal and professional growth. These gaps are in the areas of "Organizing a document or presentation clearly in a manner that promotes understanding and meets the requirements of the assignment" (1.1) and "Developing well-reasoned ideas, conclusions, or decisions, checking them against relevant criteria and benchmarks" (2.5).   I selected the first gap (1.1) because I often find myself struggling to present my ideas in a clear and organized manner. This has sometimes led to misunderstandings or misinterpretations of my work. I believe that improving this skill will not only enhance my communication abilities but also increase the effectiveness of my presentations and documents, making them more impactful and persuasive. To develop this competency, I plan to engage in several activities. First, I will take online courses on effective communication and presentation skills. These courses often provide practical tips and exercises that can help improve the clarity and organization of presentations and documents. Second, I will seek feedback from my peers and mentors on my work. Their insights can provide valuable perspectives on how I can improve. Lastly, I will practice by creating mock presentations and documents, allowing me to apply what I have learned and gain more confidence in my abilities.   The second gap (2.5) was chosen because I believe that the ability to develop well-reasoned ideas and conclusions is crucial in decision-making processes. This skill is particularly important in my field of study, where data-driven decisions are the norm. To improve this skill, I will start by taking courses on critical thinking and decision making. These courses can provide me with the necessary tools to evaluate information critically and make well-informed decisions. I will also participate in group discussions and debates, which can help me practice and improve my reasoning skills. Additionally, I will seek opportunities to make decisions in real-life situations, as this can provide me with practical experience and help me understand the consequences of my decisions.   In conclusion, I believe that working on these gaps will significantly enhance my skills and competencies, making me a more effective communicator and decision-maker. I am committed to this journey of self-improvement and look forward to the growth that lies ahead. This reflection is a self-assessment, identifying areas of improvement, explaining why I chose them and outlining a plan for development. I have identified two gaps, one in communication and the other in decision. Write your reflection summary here.
