Role-plays – Instructions
General instructions for learner
The following role-plays require you to assume two (2) roles at The Righteous Inn, a fictitious hotel. You will need to demonstrate how you would discuss and assess the merits of a range of dishes, recipes and menu ideas with others for menus you are developing.
Your assessor will observe you in these role-plays and play the role of people you interact with. The assessor will have certain actions they are required to do or say in order to make the role-play effective and relevant.
All related scenario information and criteria for success are provided for you to complete each task.
Context of assessment
Your assessor will record your demonstration of competency on the structured Role-play Checklists.
You may reference the learning content for this unit and/or conduct additional research.
You are advised to review these checklists to check your understanding of what the assessor will be looking for when they observe you.
The role-plays for this assessment are:
· Role-play 1: Generating recipe ideas.
· Role-play 2: Evaluating recipe success.
Read:
· the scenario for each role-play before you start your preparations
· the Role-play instructions to learner for each simulation
· the Role-play Checklist for each simulation.
The assessor may stop the assessment on occasion to:
· ask questions
· ask you to explain what and why you are doing something
· ask you to repeat an action
· tell you when to continue with the assessment task.
Criteria for success
You must complete all tasks and demonstrate an understanding of required competencies in the Role-play Checklist.
You need to achieve a result of ‘Satisfactory’(S) for each task to receive the final assessment outcome of ‘Competent’ (C).
Where you are marked as ‘Not Yet Satisfactory’ (NYS) for any task, the final assessment outcome will be ‘Not Yet Competent’ (NYC). In such cases, you will be provided with an opportunity to repeat the assessment at a later date.
