1. Out of the ten threats list the five you think are most important:

An armed attack would be the most devastating experience an employee can experience in the workplace. An armed attack would not only impact the employees but also the company property. It will cause employees to have less faith in the organization when it comes to security and eventually cause a stressful environment. Beyond safeguarding your facility, another important prevention tactic is awareness. All members of the workplace should understand potential warning signs and know how to share them with the appropriate parties, whether security staff, human resources department or a supervisor (Moss, 2020)

2. Describe and define each of these five threat areas as to their significance

Robbery: Businesses that deal in cash are especially prone to robberies. Robbery can impact the business very negatively as it involves loss of goods at the same rate-raising suspicion on the employees in the organization. It is vital to implement surveillance systems such as cameras and security guards to avoid this situation.

Workplace violence: Any workplace can be vulnerable to workplace violence. Having a plan in place to prevent, prepare, and react to an armed intruder or active shooter is the best way to minimize the severity and save lives(Moss, 2020). Workplace violence can be either an unknown outsider or could even be a vengeful employee.

Hostage Incident: Hostage situations are unpredictable events and hard to prepare for. The biggest misconception is that establishing a procedure for these types of events will cause panic among employees. With proper planning and training, your employees and teammates are more likely to respond to an emergency and be safe and sound. Emotions can get in the way, creating life-threatening conditions not only for the individual but everyone else. A risky situation such as this one needs to be handled with extreme care (AgilityRecovery, 2019).

Disorderly Conduct: Employees sometimes behave inappropriately. While nobody is perfect, and even excellent workers have bad days, inappropriate office behavior can take its toll on the business. Preventing and addressing bad behavior should be workplace priorities. Disorderly conduct creates a hostile work environment and causes talented employees to leave the organization(Petersen, 2019).

Kidnapping: Kidnapping for ransom is a risk for companies as criminal gangs and terrorist groups target employees in what has become a lucrative source of funding. This is another devastating event that can ruin the confidence of the employees in terms of security. More companies now do business overseas, putting them at a higher risk of employee kidnapping. Those incidents run into the tens of thousands worldwide each year, but the weakness of the data is that victims and their families and employers may well choose not to contact the police (Elliott, 2015).

3. Provide strategies you would have implemented to improve these areas to reduce risk and vulnerability

Every organization needs to implement strong physical security measures in order to prevent or alleviate the above issues. Implementing security guards can control who enters and exits your organization. It can also control what objects enter and leave the organization reducing theft of any sort. Cameras should be installed all across the organization to keep logs on mission-critical assets. Mandatory training needs to be assigned to employees explaining how to deal with hostile situations that could potentially occur. This will let your staff be prepared for the worst and would reduce the panic level in case of a security breach.
