What are the factors that influence the choice of the service site for a child care business in Singapore / your home country? Discuss any five relevant factors ( in FP Guidebook). Support your answers with four attributes for each factor.

1) Market Proximity

This factor is selected because Singapore is in the rise to promote and encourage entrepreneur to open up child care centre to render service to the young couples having children in the neighbourhood. Developing upcoming town like punggol will be a good place to set up child care centre as young couple will be applying hdb flats at this place and having their children there. As young couples need to work so children will be leave it at child care centre. It will be a place for the children to be taken care by the staff to learn childhood education and of cause play session.

2) Access and visibility

This factor is selected because with a good location where all means of transport can reach the place conveniently and where it is easy to find and locate the place. In that area if it is the only child care centre, resident there will be able to assist and direct the public asking for the location of child care centre. Traffic flow is to be considered to be located at a town centre or at any HDB or shopping centre where it will draw crowd. And will it be easy to find parking for those parents’ whose is driving.

3) Availability of Manpower

This factor is selected because currently it is not easy to find employee for child care business. They need to be trained and certify before they can work in this job. Besides, not many are interested to get into this line. So the market is always shortage of this kind of special skill workers. Our government is always encouraging our people to get into this trade with sponsor courses and higher salary and better benefit to join child care industry. If we are hiring foreign talent to work in this industry, it will be more costly to employ them as taxes and levies will be increased.

4) Proximity to Other industry and Complementary Business

This factor is selected because not only child care centre but we may have a cafe just beside it for the parent to gather for a drink or chit chat while waiting for their children. Businesses like book store, uniform shop and coffee shop or ice cream shop can be set up at the surrounding. It will be able to attract the crowd and bring up the business.

5) Legal Restrictions / Special Government Grants

This factor is selected because to open up a child care centres one’s need to apply for child care license. There will be special grant from the government to set up child

care centre. And special education program to be subsidise to the owner to provide the employee to attend the require courses. Child care centre only can build on the ground floor at the hdb.
