DNP Project Liaison/Stakeholder Agreement

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Project unfolds over a series of project courses that represent eight

credit hours in the DNP Program. The DNP Project Faculty collaborate with and guide the student in the

development of the project.

The student DNP Project is developed as a quality improvement initiative or an innovation aimed at

addressing an identified problem in the project practice setting. Ideally, the student establishes a

collaborative relationship with the Liason/Project Stakeholder in the identification of the problem and

potential solutions to address the identified practice need.

The student’s assigned DNP Project Faculty person reviews the completed project prospectus to ensure the project meets program requirements. The completed prospectus is then forwarded to the DNP

Program Chair for review. Once approved at the program level, the student completes an application for

project approval and submits it to the Herzing Univeristy Institutional Review Board (IRB). Once IRB

approval has been obtained, the DNP student advances their program studies by implementing, where

possible, the project in the planned practice setting in collaboration with the Project Liason/Stakeholder.

Role and Responsibilities of DNP Student

It is the responsibility of the student to:

1. Communicate and work with their Project Faculty as required to ensure project success.

2. Meet regularly with their Project Faculty and project stakeholders as appropriate to design and

plan the initiation of the project, communicating progress, goals, plans, changes, questions, etc.

3. Determine and initiate the process to secure any permissions needed for the project such as

project practice site permission or contracts, MOUs, permission to use instruments, IRB approval,

etc.

4. Communicate timelines, alterations in the project, scheduled meetings, deadlines, and other dates

and information to their Project Faculty.

5. Report problems, delays, and other issues that impact their DNP project to their Project Faculty.

6. Maintain the P.R.I.C.E. of Success in all professional encounters including faculty, project

stakeholders and others.

Role of the DNP Liason/Stakeholder

The liason/stakeholder role encompasses:

1. Collaborating with the DNP student on the merits of the quality improvement or innovation

project

2. Meeting with the DNP student and/or DNP faculty as appropriate in support of project

implementation in the practice setting

3. Connect with DNP faculty as appropriate for providing evaluative feedback about the DNP

student and the DNP project
