A social impact assessment (SIA) identifies the potential impact of a project on society (people), the environment (planet), and economically (prosperity). Once identified, an assessment of significant impacts must be analyzed, and plans for managing each impact must be developed jointly with all appropriate stakeholders.
SIA Approach
· Describe the approach that will be used to identify, analyze, and monitor the social impacts of the project. (1 page)
The project will impact society and the environment as well in many ways. While coming up with the project the environmental issues were considered and the organization will involve themselves and participate in the environmental cleaning day, this is to encourage their customers in their retail outlets to keep the environment clean by disposing of well the packets and other products from the organization. The project will be based in the community and therefore, the society will greatly benefit because many individuals will be employed from those who will provide the casual labor force to those who will be employed by the organization professionally. The organization is set to employ 15 people from society to work for the company. The living standards of the community will improve since the employed people will earn a living from the organization and therefore, they will be able to meet their day to day basic needs. Developing the organization will bring up other business facilities in the community and therefore the development of the community infrastructure for example roads, water availability, electrification and promotion of educational facilities in the organization.
Identify Social Impact(s)
· Identify and describe at least two potential social impacts of the project in each area: society, environment, and economically.
Society
Since the project will be collecting details/information of the members of the society such as their names, Identification Card numbers among other essential data that will be needed to process orders and deliver services, this business project will ensure effective protection as well as security of these sensitive information of the members of the society. In addition to that, the project will also impact the society by providing an engaged learning as well as teaching where advise will be freely given to the farmers regarding the effective ways of handling their milk.
Environment
The project intents to help in environmental protection through several ways: The Businesses project will implement environmental policies that aims at using the energy more efficiently, as well as commitment to reducing waste. Furthermore, the project is committed to recycling as well as reusing various objects such as plastic bags, plastic containers et cetera that may result in pollution the environment when anyhow deposited. The project will construct a well structure waste disposal system where waste will be deposited properly. In addition to that, all project shareholders as well as other stake holders will be participating in a tree planting exercise that will be organized after every two weeks besides the cleaning exercise that will be after every three days. This is a positive impact towards the environment. This positive impact can be enhanced through several ways for instance encouragement of society.
Economically:
This project will create a number of economic impacts on society: the project will pay fair wages to the employees working in the project, in addition to that, the project will also provide benefits to the employees, this will ensure that the employees are able to deliver the best in the work place. Paying them fair wages and benefits will reduce their level of stress as they will be able to handle their personal issues as well as improving their life standards hence lowering poverty level. Paying employees fairly and on time ensures that when they come to work, they can concentrate on their work and help the project to deliver its objectives. Moreover, the project will also ensure that the farmers who supply their milk are paid on time and fairly for their supplies. Suppliers are very essential to this project and therefore paying them on time and fairly will motivate them to ensure constant and on time supply. On time and fair payment will help suppliers to pay for their expenses and further improve their life standards and similarly lower the level of poverty. Moreover, prompt payment fosters a good relationship with suppliers as well as increasing suppliers' confidence in the business project.
Analyze Social Impact(s)
The social impact will directly impact on the society. The people of the community will be benefiting either directly or indirectly from the project. The people from the society who do the dairy farming and sells the milk to the company will benefit directly from the project since they will be easily accessing the market for their milk and they will be receiving their payments on the stipulated date. The people who will be employed by the company will benefit directly from the organization since they will be working to earn a living and their living standards will improve.
The other members of the community will be benefiting indirectly from the company. The benefits include the improvement of the infrastructure, for example, the company will ensure that the roads are developed and also, the operations of the equipment in the organization will need the use of electricity and therefore people will access the electricity easily.
The social impacts of the project were considered to impact the community positively. Environmentally, the company will create awareness of keeping the environment clean and they will involve themselves in the process of cleaning the environment and creating awareness on the importance of keeping the environment. The organization will enjoy the economic benefits from the project as milk will be bought directly from the farmers, therefore, easy market access and those who will be employed by the organization will improve their living standards. So, the project will positively impact the community.
Monitor Social Impact(s)
Social impact of the project will be monitored through the collection of both the qualitative and quantitative data or information. The information regarding the social impact of the project can be collected through methods such as questionnaires. Members of the society can provide information on how the project impact their lives in general. Questionnaires is generally meant to reach a big number of people. furthermore, indicators can also be used to monitor the social impact of the project, such indicators may include the life standard of the employees, the unemployment level in the society among other indicators. Moreover, written stories are another way of monitoring the social impact of the project where individuals are told to write a story of how they think about the project, its achievement, impacts et cetera. The social condition of the project will be reviewed regularly perhaps twice a month, regular review will help identify the areas that need improvement as well as emphasis.
The various potential social impacts of the project discussed above are in regard to the economic, social as well as the environmental impacts. The economic impacts pertain the employment opportunities that the project will create. Those employed by the project will earn wages and salaries, this will directly impact the employees as well as the suppliers. The employees and the suppliers as well will use the wages and salaries paid to them to improve their living standard hence reducing the poverty level. This type of Social impact a positive impact since it directly helps the employees as well as the suppliers improve their living. This impact can be enhanced through timely payment of the wages as well as the salaries.
Stake holders are important in the monitoring of the social impacts of the projects. They will be engaged to offer opinions that will improve and facilitate decision making as well as creating an atmosphere of understanding. However, the stakeholders will be given enough opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns that may influence Project decisions.
Project Outcome
The project will offer several services, the first service the project intends to provide is the milk storage services in there storage areas constructed specially for this purpose, and equipped with all cooling devices according to the appropriate cooling temperatures to save milk for long periods for more than 4 weeks, until they are packaged in bottles intended for this purpose for distribution in the local market and exported to the rest of the United States. That will ensure milk does not go wrong. According to the research we carried out, many farmers do not have milk storage facilities, and since milk is not durable, as it only stays for hours and then goes terrible, so many farmers incur lose when the milk goes wrong as they do not have storage facilities. The project intends to provide fridges that will assist in the storage and other milk storage facilities. The storage facility is expected to store approximately 50, 000 liters. It will be using cooling technology to maintain milk temperature low. Deep freezers will also be used as additional cooling equipment within the storage building.
Secondly, the project also will focus on collecting the milk from the farmers and pays them. Many farmers are not able to get access to a quick market, and this is the main reason why the milk spoilage rate is high, approximately 30%. Since we have a direct link with the National Milk Corporation, we intend to collect milk from the farmers and sell to the National Milk Corporation immediately we get from the farmers, this will ensure a quick market, and also the liquid won't stay for long before getting to the market. At the same time, there are many ideas to have our retail shops to sell our product named the Golden Milk directly to the customers.
Requirements Traceability Matrix
There are several stakeholders' requirements for this project; the stakeholders' demands for the project are:
Stakeholders need to support the project financially to enhance its implementation. Some of the facilities that are required to keep milk safe and in good quality are expensive. Therefore, stakeholders must come in handy and help raise funds to acquire those machines. Besides, they also need to assist in creating awareness among the farmers. Farmers need to be informed about these facilities that will be brought soon and how they will help them.
Secondly, the Operations requirement- this stakeholder's need takes into consideration the maintenance of the features of the project. Furthermore. In this regard, the operational team further fosters constraints, for instance, the ability activities in the project.
The third stakeholder requirement is the customer's stakeholder's requirement; this requirement – users, usually give information regarding the product and services offered or provided by the project. Lead users generally help in contributing to the user stories as well as ideas regarding the product and services quality as well as usability. It enables the project to understand which area has to be improved (Eskerod & Jepsen, 2013). Besides, they required the skill to help in the process of the milk product so that wastages are minimized at all costs. Also, they need the marketing skill that allows the firm to sell its products to the final consumers.
The solution requirements include the ability to make farmers earn the highest possible income and profit by selling the milk directly to (CMCC) and at the same time taken a 25 % percentage from their share as a member in CMCC to refer to the milk quantities supplied to the Milk Collecting Center. This is a result of reduced spoilage. The other requirement is about enhanced consumer safety. Achievement of protection will be realized as a result of the use of facilities that prevent the milk from going bad quickly.
These project solution requirements include the equipment that will be used to minimize milk spoilage while they are on transit or storage to the final selling point. The other element is the material used for packaging purposes to the quantities that will be offered to the final consumer.
The project needs to uplift society and create employment. About 15 employees will be hired to work in the milk processing plant and thus creating jobs. Farmers will also get the market for their milk and therefore make money, which will raise their standards of living. On the other hand, the project is required to lead to the development of the neighboring areas. Other businesses are expected to come up in the area where the cooperative will be built.
Quality requirements refer to specifications of the quality of the products as well as services that are offered by the project, it takes into consideration all the processes that take place in the project as well as the entire environment surrounding the project, including ensuring that the products meet the required standards and keeping the high standards of hygiene and cleanness. They are typically activities that may result in the quality improvement of the product as well as services. The quality requirements for this project include customer experience- customer experience refers to activities that may be able to contribute towards the pleasing of the product as well as services.
Furthermore, maintainability requirements ensure that everything works well, and things are easy to maintain (Pries & Quigley, 2012).
The requirements of a project are the conditions or capabilities that the deliverables of a project must meet in order to satisfy the project objectives. The requirements traceability matrix explicitly shows the connections between the requirements, the project objectives, and the deliverables.

Project Scope Statement
Project scope defines all the work that must be done to deliver the expected outcome or product of the project. The project scope statement describes precisely what is and what is not included in the project. The scope of the project is derived from project requirements and is used as input to create the work breakdown structure.
Compose a project scope statement:
· Describe, in detail, the characteristics of the product, service, or outcome that the project will produce.
The project will be particularly helpful and significant to the smallholder dairy producers because it will be collecting milk from the before processing. Payments that dairy farmers will be getting will help them increase their income. The project aims to build milk processing machines that will process the milk collected from different farmers to add value and packages it before selling it to retail shops and supermarket. Through processing, which adds value, the shelf life and prices of milk increases, and this help in profit maximization.
The project intends to provide is the milk storage services in their storage areas constructed specially for this purpose and equipped with all cooling devices according to the appropriate cooling temperatures to save milk for long periods for more than 4 weeks.
The project also will focus on collecting the milk from the farmers and pays them. Many farmers are not able to get access to a quick market, and this is the main reason why the milk spoilage rate is high, approximately 30%. At the same time, there are many ideas to have our retail shops to sell our product named the Golden Milk directly to the customers.
· Describe the incremental deliverables that must be produced to create the final product, service, or outcome of the project.
A new delivery plan for farmers has to be developed. Moreover, a delivery plan is an essential external stakeholder. In addition to that, since there is readily available market, it is also important to establish a finished marketing plan that will ensure an expanded market for the milk. Marketing plan is an incremental deliverable that will help the project meet its objectives.
Here, in this project the incremental approach is how to produce more milk, how to check the quality of the milk and how to retain the same quality of the milk over the period. The storage of the milk to protect from germs or bacteria. And above all, the environment plays a vital role. Hygienic area, hygienic people as well as hygienic machinery is required to pull out the maximum benefit and along that also to provide quality of product which the company has promised to give to the society.
Furthermore, Screening is another incremental deliverable, screening ensures that the milk is screened for pathogens and other components. Screening is done to ensure quality of milk.
Finances is another essential incremental deliverable. It is important that enough budget is allocated to the project, this will ensure that the project meets all of the objectives set. Furthermore, enough budget will foster quick completion of the project.
· Describe the exclusions from the scope of the project.
The scope of project excludes the profit margins after 1 year of the running business. It should tell the stakeholders that at what time of frame they will get the profit from the business not the investment. It should have a proper plan for coming 5 years, that where the business stands and how much you can give to the society in terms of product or service and how much profit margin you will get from the business.

Work Breakdown Structure
The work breakdown structure (WBS) is used in project management to depict the scope of a project. In addition, the WBS is the primary source of information for the development of the project schedule and network diagram, for the determination of project resources, and is an important element of performance measurement.
For the purposes of this assignment, the highest level of the WBS represents the product, service, or outcome of the project. The second level of the WBS represents the incremental deliverables that must be produced to create the final product, service, or outcome of the project. The third level of the WBS represents the activities/tasks (called work packages) that must be performed to produce the incremental deliverables.
Note: Depending on the nature of your project, you may need or want to add levels. Just remember that only the lowest level represents activities/tasks (work packages). All other levels represent deliverables.
· Produce a work breakdown structure (WBS) decomposed to at least three levels for the project. The WBS must include at least three sub-deliverables and two activities/tasks for each sub-deliverable.
