Should Electric Cars Replace Gasoline/ Diesel Cars?

Introduction

· The establishment of the electric cars was a significant improvement in the modern day transport. The establishment was a significant approach of the world to escape it dependency on the fossil fuels and move to some more environmental friendly techniques to power the transportation industry (J. Martins, 2013).

· On the other hand, due to high cost as well as poor performance of the battery numerous people have not fully embraced the use of the electric vehicles and this rises a controversial question of whether the electric vehicles should replace the gasoline or the diesel vehicles?

Main Argument

· Due to the need of going green in order to save the planet, the embracement of new technology has significantly contributed in the development of electric vehicles. The establishment of the electric vehicles may have a significant positive impact on the environment due to their less pollution ability which may see them replace the gasoline or the diesel vehicles (J. Martins, 2013).

· Additionally, due to low cost and the readily availability of electricity it may be quite easy for individuals to be able to recharge their cars easily and efficiently. This factors tend to increase the chances of the electric cars replacing the gasoline or the diesel vehicles.

Sub Argument one

· The fossil fuels have been the most common approach of powering the global transport and in turn the use of fossil fuels have significantly impacted the global atmosphere in a negative way (Malmgren, 2016). The development of the electric vehicles stands to have a positive impact to the atmosphere due to their ability to run on electricity hence no emission of pollutants. Thus it is essential to replace the diesel or gasoline vehicles with electric vehicles in order to save the planet.

Sub Argument two

· Additionally, the cost of electricity tends to be much cheaper compared to diesel or gasoline. Thus, the replacement of the gasoline or diesel vehicles with electric vehicles it would be an effective way to assist the vehicles users to save on the finances they spend on gasoline or diesel as well as the planet through reduction of pollutants on the roads (Malmgren, 2016).

Sub Argument three

· Lastly, another positive impact of using the electric vehicle over the gasoline or diesel vehicles is that electricity is readily available in every home. Thus, one is not always required to go to a gas station to recharge his or her vehicle. This makes the use of the electric vehicles more convenient to own compared to the vehicles powered by gasoline or diesel (Malmgren, 2016).

Counter Argument

· A major limitation of electric vehicles being able to replace the vehicles powered by diesel or gasoline is the cost. The electric vehicles tend to way expensive compared to the diesel or gasoline vehicles and this limits many people from purchasing the electric vehicles (J. Martins, 2013). Even though with the aid of new technology the cost of electric vehicles is being reduced to be more competitive but still when compared to the diesel powered vehicles the electric powered vehicles are still quite expensive.

· Another major hindrance of people taking ownership of electric vehicles is the battery life and performance. Most of the electric cars may not be in a position to travel for long distances because they tend to have limited battery life of about 84 miles (J. Martins, 2013).

What would the world look like if your argument is not implemented?

· The rate of atmospheric pollution would continue to increase hence endangering the existence of every living thing on the planet.
