Module 1: Sharing Research Ideas - A2

From  PSY-20500-OL21-Human Development-Spring-21

The main purpose of this discussion is to help each other succeed in your work! It does this by giving you a chance to try out your ideas for the  Module 1 assessment (see another attached file).  This assessment asks you to propose your own idea for a developmental research project in order for you to demonstrate your understanding of the material from this module. But before you have to do that, I wanted a chance for us collaborate to make those ideas the best they can be!

1. First read over the  assessment for this module . Module 1 assessment Take some time to brainstorm a couple of ideas of what you'd like to submit for that assignment. Select one you'd like to get some feedback on.

2. Make an initial VIDEO* post. Please try to limit videos to a maximum of 5 minutes so that others have time to listen to as many as possible.

· Start your video by introducing yourself. This way we can hear how you pronounce your name.

· Then share some or all of your idea for the assessment. Maybe so far you only have a research question and hypothesis informed by a specific theory. Tell us about those 3 then. Or maybe you have a question and an idea for data collection. You may even have it all worked out! Just make sure you share enough that your peers will be able to provide helpful and meaningful feedback to you. And feel free to request help with a specific area of your research idea. DUE 1/28

3.  After a couple of days, come back to your discussion group and provide constructive feedback to at least of your peers. (I have broken you into fairly small groups for this discussion so you can take the time to thoughtfully consider all the posts in your group and provide quality feedback.) Your response, which can be written or a video, could address a place where they are "stuck" or offer a correction to or suggestion for part of their research idea. If a part of their plan was unclear, let them know & ask some questions to help them think about how to clarify their idea. Since the goal is to try to help everyone succeed on next week's assignment, if you notice someone doesn't have any replies yet, please start by responding to that post. DUE 1/31

*This assignment is part of the student authentication for this course, so an initial video post is required. To submit a video response, simply click on icon of the play button in the middle of the tool bar once you've opened the Reply text box. If you hover over it, it should read "Record/Upload Media." See the image below. You can then record a video right there, or you can upload one you've recorded elsewhere. Let me know immediately if you encounter problems with this part. I may have some suggestions that can help you. :)
