Sexual abuse has an immense impact on the victim. Depending on the victim, the effects can last throughout an individuals’ life. It is true that motivation, emotion and memory are some of the consequences of sexual abuse but there are other effects that victims of sexual abuse experience. From the first encounter with a sexual abuse, the victim can feel a sense of self-unworthiness and low self-esteem that stems out from the horrific experience where they blame themselves for such occurrence. Neurons are the backbone of efficient functioning, and controls every aspect of human functioning. Therefore, the efficiency of human functioning is dependent on healthiness of an individuals’ neurons. In the case of sexual abuse, the effect can be long lasting if the victim is a teenager, as described in the case.
Often adolescents can have challenges in their development and efficient growth when they face traumatizing situations in their lives. In instances where these individuals are not quickly assisted to go through the situation, they are likely to have a life-long impact. Attitude towards men can also be experienced due to the trauma that the sexual victim is suffering because the brain and the central nervous system control an individuals' thoughts, behavior, and emotions. Since the neurons are a significant part of the brain, they help with the thinking process, and so is recovery from traumatizing events.
Victims of sexual abuse have a responsibility to take to realize a healthy recovery and return to normalcy. One way these people can be assisted is by accepting their past and positively tuning their minds to forge on. This way, the neurons are likely to repair faster and quicken the healing process making the victim emotionally heal, leading to higher motivation rates to better themselves. Also, through neuron repair, the victim can recover from the sexual abuse and bad experience.
