Summary of strengths:

Reliability / patience

Trust and patience are essential tools for building and maintaining mutually respectful relationships, especially among patients, staff and management. I am very careful, honest, very open and friendly. I know that the people I work with can easily approach me, share both my work and my personal life, and always find a solution. I respect others and value their different perspectives.

As a nurse and nurse supervisor in my current job, one of the greatest strengths I have recognized is the ability to educate people, do things and show them the right way to provide care. I am around the nurse and enjoy learning good hearing and problem solving. I am a very good team player, always helping to reduce the workload, feeling that patients, family and staff are well cared for and that someone is always there to run and ask questions I will not confirm. I am happy to see that the patient is discharged with confidence that he has received the necessary care. This can be achieved by setting goals, organizing, and setting rules. I usually write down what I need to do on a piece of paper and prioritize the most important things weekly and sometimes daily. It helped me stay organized and get the job done on a critical deadline.

Opportunities for growth:

One of my weaknesses is an over-commitment to helping others, sometimes over-stretching myself, and when they need it or when I need my help. I am late for my job because I do not want to disappoint. I have found that I can stay and stay focused are to being more aware of my abilities, better managing my time, and being more positive on both sides. It also helps me understand that every choice I make has consequences, and learning about those consequences and weaknesses helps me improve and manage my time.

Now, write three to four (3–4) possible goals and objectives for this practicum experience. Ensure that they follow the SMART Strategy, as described in the Learning Resources.

b. Objective: To ask questions, talk to my mentor about why I believe the diagnosis I am using best represents my patient's problem.

c. Objective: This includes paying close attention to and listening to the patient during the initial nursing assessment and narrowing the patient's clinical vision to the appropriate diagnosis.

4. Goal: Learn how to communicate effectively with my patients

a. Objective: to ask questions and listen to patients and my mentors.
