Sears Company analysis

Sears Company is among the biggest retailer companies that provide great shopping experiences for consumers today. The Sears Holding Corporation (SHS) is the founder of various established brands in the world. They include; Kenmore, Kmart, Shop Your Way, and the Sears brand. Furthermore, it is also the country’s biggest provider that offers installations and house calls that offer close to 113 million services every year (Abedodeh, 2016). For a large company like the SHS, the HR department is among the crucial departments in evaluating the data that would be handled by the company on a daily basis.

Analytics is a very important aspect of human resources in this organization. It helps the analysts to determine the type of information that they need to acquire, analyze changes in the consumer demands and also help them to interact with the staff members. Furthermore, it also helps to track retention among the leadership developments, dashboards, and career development. The human resource analyst in this company uses the information collected to improve the performance of the company, improve the needs of the consumers and also hire the best talent across the world (Duperon et al., 2016). Furthermore, this data and information are crucial at enhancing the career paths and also strengthen the performance of the employees. Data that is outsourced and analyzed is useful to the human resource analysts as they are able to calculate the rate of employee turnover, evaluate the payroll system and evaluate the employee information such as performance and training. The Sears Holding Company merged with other organizations (including Kmart) and therefore, they had to ensure that the human resource department was functioning effectively in order to succeed in the business.

In business analytics, the SWOT analysis is a very crucial framework that should be prioritized. It helps to evaluate the internal and external environment of an organization to determine the safety of the business. In the internal environment, the goals of the human resource department (Friedman, 2013) are to analyze the effectiveness of the strategies used in business operations and also evaluating the long-term goals of the company. The strategies help to formulate the goals of the company. Furthermore, an effective HR department helps to identify the weaknesses and the strengths of the employees. The weaknesses of the human resource department include budget costs because the HR department does not produce the finances in an organization (Friedman, 2013). However, several other factors that include employee morale and employee turnover can also affect the human resource department. Therefore, it is very crucial for this department to undertake all the necessary actions to improve the morale and enhance motivation among the staff members of the Sears Holding Company.

Additionally, opportunities are also crucial when addressing the human resource department. Regarding the external factors, the ability of an organization to scale up its operations and expand in the market is a very crucial aspect of its success. Abedodeh (2016) states that the demand for the products and the services of the Sears Holding Company increases, this organization will have to increase the number of its workforce in order to balance its operations and satisfy the needs of the consumers. Consumer demand for the company's products and services will help the company to acquire its intended profits. However, employees may also be required to expand their knowledge and skills in the market in order to match new expectations.

There are various threats to the operations of this company. Negative external factors that include the entry of new market entrants and an increase in the number of competitors can affect the operations of this organization in terms of profitability gained in the market. Such factors may also force the organization to close down or massive layoff of its workforce. Other threats from the external environment include customer switching to other companies, businesses that offer better working conditions for the employees, rewards, and incentives towards the employees (Mayhew, 2018). To deal with such threats, the Sears Holding Company can conduct a routine assessment of its business with employees to identify their ideas and opinions. Furthermore, hiring external market consultants can help the company to study the market and develop strategies for dealing with competitors in the market. Furthermore, constant communication with the consumers through various social media platforms can help the company to get necessary feedback that can help it to improve the quality of its service.

The Sears Holding Company also needs to adhere to all the rules and regulations that govern the process of hiring and firing employees, training, and offering compensation rates in order to ensure that healthy working environments are created when the company decides to merge with other organizations. When companies merge, there are some departments that are removed and new policies introduced for the companies that merge together. During the process of merging, the HR analysts are mainly tasked with the process of identifying the staff members they can keep and those that can be removed from their respective job positions (Friedman, 2013). Additionally, it is also crucial for the human resource to evaluate the profitability of the company every week in order to ensure proper business continuity. Therefore, the Sears Holding Company must have proper plans of ensuring that business gains normalcy when the profits reduce in order to sustain the pressure from the market competitors. However, if the company does not get its intended profits in the market, this organization must hire highly trained employees or terminate the contract of some of their employees. On the other hand, technology is a very important component of any business organization. However, for Sears Holding Company, advancement in technology means that some employees will have to be laid off as most operations will be conducted via the use of machines (Abedodeh, 2016). Furthermore, the technology may force the company to downsize its departments to create to save additional costs. The process of analyzing demographics is also effective at analyzing how the human resource department of this organization can lure experienced employees. This may include factors such as the compensation packages and the ability of the new employees to benefit from the organization.

The human resource analysts use various business analytic strategies to improve the performance of the employees that will have an effect on the SHS’s returns. The Sears Holding human resource analysts collect and evaluate the information concerning its employees and make an informed decision based on the information. The core functions that are evaluated include; development, employee payment, optimization, and development (Friedman, 2013). However, for this process to be successful, the human resource analysts need to co-operate and work with managers from various departments to gain adequate information about the challenge of the employees at Sears Holding Company.

The human resource analysts of this company evaluate the progress of each unit of the company, its employees and also collect and analyze the data and make recommendations based on the information collected. For SHS organizations, the human resource analysts use the SWOT framework to analyze information and also provide recommendations and also use statistical linkages to provide results for the reports (Abedodeh, 2016).

However, surveys are among the best tools that can be used to gather numerous volumes of data to evaluate various concepts in an organization. The human resource should conduct an adequate survey to gain the level of trust, transparency, teamwork, and the extent of the commitment of employees towards an organization (Mayhew, 2018). This will help the human resource analysts at Sears Holding Company to use this information to link employees, the factors for business continuity, and business expectations or outcomes. It will help the organization to identify the challenges at the workplace. However, the organization should also limit the number of questions for every survey to prevent employees from being overwhelmed by the questions.

Additionally, confidentiality is a key component that should be encouraged when the organization conducts a survey. It allows the employees to be free when responding to the questions and therefore, the information collected may be reliable for making a decision or a conclusion in the organization. However, when Sears Holding Company decides to merge with another company, they have to be sensitive to the type of information that they share with employees. This is because some information may be too sensitive and can interfere with the morale of the employees or make them quit their respective job positions (Abedodeh, 2016). Furthermore, when such information spreads to the public, SHS can lose valuable customers to their competitors.

When the Sears Holding Company decides to merge with a different company, the human resource department will be crucial at evaluating the operations of the new company (Abedodeh, 2016). Therefore, the human resource analysts are crucial to the operations of not both the SHS Company and the operations of the new organization. It is important to have an effective human resource system in order to support the operations of an organization. In order to achieve success in the HR system, it should be equipped with experienced personnel that are capable of collecting data and information, evaluate and provide adequate solutions based on the data that is collected. The SHC Company consists of various brands that are dependable and also provide high-quality services to consumers.
