Research Project Instructions

Sea Glider

This course requires students to prepare research project to analyze and evaluate an existing robotic system in a paper format, including Similar Systems & Missions, Limitations of Design, and Design Enhancements.

The student will be expected to compare and contrast the system to similar systems, identify similar or overlapping missions, make recommendations for potential improvements/enhancements, and defend using appropriate citations.

1. place holder sections and subsections

· similar systems & missions

· limitations of design

· design enhancements

· 4-5 pages

· references (with 6 to 7+ sources identified in current APA format)

The finished product should contain detailed information regarding each of the outlined sections/subsections, including applicable diagrams (architectural, design, and logic), components/subsystem elements identification, and references supporting identification of design and proposed augmentation/enhancement of system.

Students should remember that the nature of the class is specific to robotics and control so the focus of the paper should revolve around this theme. Projects that do not address this topic, but focus instead on other important, but irrelevant issues will not grade well.
