Script Writing Assignment
1 INT. HOTEL BUILDING. NIGHT. 1
Inside a hotel getting ready to head back home (Boise, ID).
JAKE and KEVIN are students and they are spending their
Thanksgiving holiday in Eugene, Oregon.
It’s not the first time to both to travel together.
They like to travel by car and explore new places.
Now, it is time to start their way back.
Before they leave the hotel room, Jake asks Kevin in case he
forgets some valuable things as Kevin always do.
JAKE
Are you ready?
KEVIN
Let’s do it!
JAKE
I hope you are not forgetting any
of your personal stuff!
KEVIN
I’m good to go.
Jake hates to say that he won’t go back if Kevin forgets
anything in the room.
2 EXT. HOTEL. NIGHT 2
Both Jake and Kevin are heading to a car to put their bags
in the trunk.
They are traveling by Jake’s car.
JAKE
We need to go to a gas station to
put gas.
They switch times by paying the gas bill.
KEVIN
Ok, it’s my turn to pay the gas,
right?
JAKE
Yup.
They get in the car and start the engine.

3 INT. JAKE’S CAR. NIGHT. 3
Kevin doesn’t like to travel at night by car. He falls
asleep quickly.
Since it is the last day of the holiday, they have to go
back.
KEVIN
We should start heading back in the
daylight.
JAKE
Come on Kevin. You can do it.
4 EXT. GAS STATION. NIGHT 4
They arrive at the gas station and put the car in a park and
pull the side break.
In Oregon, it is illegal to pump your own gas.
They should wait for an attendant.
While they are waiting, Kevin needs to buy his coffee to not
fall asleep.
KEVIN
I have to buy some coffee and some
snacks. Any drinks or snacks, Jake?
JAKE
Tortilla chips and for drinks water
is fine.
KEVIN
I got you.
The attendant arrived at the car to put some gas.
ATTENDANT
Hello, sir how are you doing? What
type of gas do you need?
JAKE
I’ll go with regular full, please.
ATTENDANT
Are you paying Cash or Credit Card?
JAKE
Wait my friend is paying for the
gas. I’ll pay you as soon as he
comes. We are paying cash.

ATTENDANT
No worries.
Kevin comes back with some snacks and drinks.
They paid for the gas and they are good to go.
5 INT. JAKE’S CAR. NIGHT. 5
It’s a long time drive. They start taking the interstate
route for couple hours.
Kevin starts to yawn.
JAKE
Stay awake, Kevin. Don’t sleep.
KEVIN
I’m trying not to fall asleep.
JAKE
Have some more caffeine.
Kevin is thinking of taking a shortcut.
KEVIN
Let’s look for a shortcut.
JAKE
There are no shortcuts. We only
have the Interstate route.
KEVIN
No, we can take the US route that
has a white sign not the blue and
red like the interstate.
JAKE
Are you sure that it saves us much
time?
KEVIN
Yeah man, and it’s safe!
Jake likes the idea and takes the US route.
After 2 hours, they are still in Oregon and close to Idaho.
The car needs gas and it can drive for 30 miles. On US route
there are not many services like a gas station and/or rest
area.

JAKE
Yo, we are running out of gas! And
there is no gas station on this
route. And we’re in a middle of
nowhere.
KEVIN
Calm down. We can find one on the
next 15 miles.
They arrive at a gas station after 9 miles. They stopped and
no one comes. Jake tries to pump his own gas, and the
machine is turned off.
JAKE
what are we going to do?!
KEVIN
We should find one in the next
exit.
They drive 6 miles and the same thing the gas station is
closed.
KEVIN
We have nothing to do. We are in a
middle of a village with no hotels
or motels. Let’s continue driving;
we are close to Idaho.
Both Jake and Kevin are panicking, for there is no gas and
no phone service to call a friend or even emergency.
Driving more few miles and they arrive Idaho.
KEVIN
We arrive Idaho. I see a gas
station ahead.
Jake is kissing the wheels after stopping the car at gas
station.
Jake’s car barely makes it and took them to Idaho with
almost empty gas. After that terrifying moment, Jake is not
going to trust Kevin on routes shortcuts. And they arrive
home safely.
