MORE ON SIMPLEX METHOD
Name: Hanyi Wu Score (out of 50):
Project: Application of the simplex method in solving a linear
programming optimization
12
Presentation of your
topic (10 pts):
As I specified in the draft submission, from your introduction it is unclear
what it is you do in your project. The terminology is vague (not defined) and
even the simplex method (which supposedly is central to this project, and has
been covered in class) is only sketched without precise detail. 2
Mathematical
aspects (10 pts):
The only mathematics in the project is an example, which mimics a topic
covered in our first week of class. 3
Discussion of your
results (10 pts):
The project describes a study, but it is unclear whether the study took place,
which data it produced, how the data was collected (where is the online
survey?). The question is vague, and so are the answers. 2
Use of references
(10 pts):
The references are relevant to the topic of optimization, and they are
referenced correctly. However, the citations appear irrelevant to the project,
and like the rest of the project the “literature review” section does not show
that the student read, or understood, the references included. 2
Exposition and
grammar (10 pts):
While the sentences are gramatically correct, the terminology used is so vague
that it is often difficult to understand their meaning. Moreover, some
paragraphs are just copied and pasted from one section of the projects to
another (this is particularly evident in the “Conclusions”). 3
