Objectives:

This article talks about the supermarket Wal-Mart’s success in manage its supply chain. Wal-Mart’s strategy on supply chain helps them save considerable amounts of costs and finally become the leader of supply chain.

Summary:

The article points out that Wal-Mart get success of managing their supply chains in the way they store track inventory and restock their shelves, saving costs and passing the savings along to customers. This helps Wal-Mart save costs, at the same time, it also helps Wal-Mart to increase its customer base.

Opinions and Conclusions:

This article related with the Ch.1 of supply chain. It shows t how important supply chain is in today’s business activities. I think Wal-Mart’s strategy is very smart that Wal-Mart developed the concept of "cross docking," or direct transfers from inbound or outbound truck trailers without extra storage. This obviously helps Wal-Mart increase the speed of transportation and save the costs for rent storage places.
