School Finance: Working with Unions
Introduction:
Depending on the state (Washington state) that you work in, it is likely that you will collaborate with a teachers' union. Such organizations are often a part of the budget development process or at the least weigh in on how schools/ districts are spending their money. Such decisions have implications on staffing, teacher resources, working conditions and ultimately student achievement. In this assignment you will have the opportunity to explore how school leaders can work with union leadership to achieve consensus around the budget.
