I always thought that earning a master’s degree was unnecessary and that a bachelor’s degree was enough and would give me the necessary skills to succeed in the workplace; I was wrong. Undergraduate education gives the foundation and general subject courses necessary to succeed in “the real world” whereas graduate schoolwork is specific. I graduated from Business Administration last fall from Florida International University where I received an extraordinary education. While studying at FIU, I wanted to get involved as much as possible in the student life so I became a member of Beta Alpha Psi (prestigious international honor society). I remained as an active member for one year participating in professional development workshops, mock interviews, community service, and social events.  In addition, I was a member of the Venezuelan Student Alliance which goal is to promote the Venezuelan culture within FIU and encourage others to learn more about the culture and country. I volunteered in different fundraising events to raise money, clothe, medicine, and food for people back in my country. To have the full-time student experience, I worked on campus for a year and a half as a student assistant of the International Business Department. Working on campus gave me the opportunity to build strong relationships with staff and faculty.

My Business Administration degree gave me key management skills and introduction to the business world but FIU gave me the opportunity to develop in a personal level by giving me the opportunity to engage in student life.

After graduation, I was fortunate enough to work as a global travel retail intern at Safilo. Safilo is a well-known Italian company that designs, manufactures and distributes eyewear with a portfolio of more than 30 prestigious brands. During my internship, I was given the complete ownership of a client portfolio. I had to increase sales and promote brand awareness. This is where my ability to take decisions independently was polished. This attribute is very important in the professional world. In addition, if you are willing to work with clients and listen to what they really need, it can create relationships that are mutually beneficial for both parties.

My intern experience set a direction, a route which helped me set my career goals and objectives. My current short-term goal is to earn a Master’s degree in Business Administration at your prestigious university. Ultimately, I’d like to move into management with a focus on strategy and development and work my way into a long-term position where I can build a solid career. I will prepare for this goal by taking on leadership positions in team projects.

I am confident that Millennial Atlantic University’s Master in Business Administration program will give me the necessary skills to achieve my ultimate career goal. However, due to the fact of the economic hardship my country is living, my parents can hardly support me financially. My 2 years of part time jobs earning base salary, have allowed me to save some money but not enough to afford paying the extensive program MAU offers. That is why I would kindly appreciate being consider for the Millenia Atlantic Masters Scholarship.

This scholarship will give me the peace of mind, as well as the security that I will be able to complete the program. I am committed to working hard and maintaining excellence in all aspects.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
