The topic selected is refugee trauma and counseling interventions by authors Fred Bemak Rita Chi‐Ying Chung. This a multiphase model that deals with intervention and counseling and the challenges that come with those that have trauma from being a refugee. The counseling uses social justice and human rights for its method of counseling. The participants are refugees of war and conflict and treatment for those with posttraumatic stress. The conclusion of the article uses a five-phase intervention approach that uses Western psychosocial intervention, social justice and human rights, and cultural empowerment. The aim and goal are to use a Multiphase Method or MPM to treat those that have post traumatic stress due, to being a refugee. I chose this topic due to my middle eastern background and being able to understand the cultural differences and trauma due, to many refugees fleeing their respective countries. One aspect of counseling is being able to understand the cultural differences and where a person comes from. These cultural differences and understanding them will aid in counseling. The MPM used in this article is extremely important when it comes to counseling. Using the MPM will also aid a therapist on different counseling techniques when trying to treat some one who has post traumatic stress due, to the individual being a refugee.
