>> Hey, Amy, I'm [inaudible] Johnson, how are you today? >> I'm okay. >> I'm glad you're here. Why don't you tell me what brought you here? >> Well, honestly I don't really know. My friend told me that you all could maybe help me out. Things hadn't really been so good for me lately. >> Well, I'd like to help you. Will you tell me what's been going on? >> Yeah, as you can see, I'm pregnant. I wasn't really expecting to be pregnant, and I feel so alone. I don't really have anybody to turn to. I don't really know that I want to be pregnant. >> Are you married or do you have a partner? >> Well, I mean Dirk that's the thing. He was, at first when we found out I don't really know him that well. I met him, we had been dating only a few times and found this out and he seemed like a really nice guy. I didn't, I at first was going to get an abortion and he was really great and he was really great about it and we kind of decided not to go that route and he was going to help me and it was really good for a little while, but I haven't heard from him in three weeks. I don't know where he is. >> He's made no contact with you? >> No. >> Have you tried contacting him? >> Yeah. He won't answer my calls. I mean I've got nobody. He's gone and now I'm seven months pregnant now. I can't do anything about it. >> So you feel pretty alone? >> Yeah. My parents won't talk to me anymore. They're pretty upset that I got pregnant to begin with and they won't, I don't have anything. I really don't. >> It must be really hard for you. >> Yeah. It is. I mean I thought I was doing okay, you know, I had a pretty good job and met this guy and I thought things were going to be okay and now I've got nothing. I've got no job, I've got no family. I mean I don't even want this baby. How am I going to take care of a baby? I don't want it. It's too late to do anything, but I can't, I don't really want to be here anymore. >> Your parents aren't speaking to you you said? >> Yeah, I tried to call them on Thanksgiving and they didn't even talk to me. >> Do you have any friends that you go to? >> I have this one friend I used to work with. She's okay. She's the one who told me to come here because she could tell I was pretty beat up about all of this. >> I'm glad you came. I'm glad she told you and you agreed to it. >> Yeah. I guess. I don't even know what you're going to do for me though. You're just going to tell me, I don't know. >> We can figure out a way if something happens and you start feeling depressed you can have a person to go to or a person to call. >> I mean it's my stuff. It's not anybody else's business. I don't really want to talk to anybody about it. I don't want to do this anymore. I've got no money, I've got nothing. I read a thing not too long ago that I could actually sell my baby and pay my car off with that. It's about to get repossessed anyway but I could do that. That way I wouldn't have to feel guilty about hurting her, it's a girl, hurting her and I could have the money and then I could be done. I'd be scot free, out of here. I could do that or I'm done. >> What do you mean by done? >> I can't raise a baby. I can't do it. I've either going to find a way to get the money to get myself a better life or I'm, I don't know. >> Amy, I'm concerned that you might be thinking about killing yourself. >> [Inaudible] have to live for? What reason do I have to be here? I've got nothing. >> I mean that makes it sound hard. I mean I can definitely understand why you would consider that as an option. Have you considered putting the baby up for adoption? >> You know that's just such a bunch of bull. You go through all of this stuff and I don't get anything out of it. I don't even want this child. I don't want to have anything to do with this, this is awful. It's his. I don't want to do all of that. >> So you don't want to put the child up for adoption if you can't get, because you can't get any money. >> Yeah, right. >> But you don't want the child. >> Right. >> So what else is the option? >> I don't know. I don't know. I thought maybe you could give me an idea about what to do. >> Yeah. >> I really, you asked me if I thought about killing myself. Not really. I don't want to die. I don't think so. I don't feel great, but I don't think so, but I don't want to do this. I don't want to go through this anymore. >> Do you have a church family or some sort of other group that you can turn to? >> No. I grew up at a church but I don't go there. I think they would think I mean my parents go there. They wouldn't want to have anything to do with me. >> So, no, your family is not talking to you? Any friends talking to you? >> That one girl from work. >> How often would you say that you talk to her? >> Well, I'm kind of a loner. She tries to call me, she calls me probably every day, but I don't really talk to her that much. I don't always answer her calls, but maybe every couple of days. Yeah. >> So are you just sitting at home all the time by yourself? >> Well, that won't last long now that I don't have a job I'm going to get evicted, but yeah. >> You are sure that you don't want to raise this baby? >> I have nothing. I've got nothing to give her. I mean she doesn't deserve me. So, yeah. >> Okay. So you feel like that would be best for the baby; not necessarily for you? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So you want to do what's good for the baby. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So you're already a mom. You want to do what's best for your baby. >> Yeah, I never really thought about it like that I guess. Yeah. >> All right. So let's think of some different options that we can give the baby because life is not over, all is not lost, okay? I understand how you feel. You say that it's just been more and more frustrating. You've lost your job. That must be kind of scary to not have income coming in right now. >> Yeah. I don't really know who I am right now. I've never lost a job before. >> Okay. >> I've always been good, a good worker, I work hard, pay my bills and here's all this. >> Okay. Well, let's not make any snap decisions right now. The agency here can help you with some temporary assistance if that would help so that you can calm down a little bit and take your time to make decisions. As far as a place to stay, you said that you might be getting evicted soon because you've lost your job and won't be able to pay your rent. Well, we have assistance programs. So, we could either get you a different place to stay or see if there is a voucher system that we could get that would help you to stay in the place where you are right now. Is it an apartment or a house? >> Apartment. >> Okay. So we may be able to get you some assistance with that. We may also be able to get some assistance as far as food and a little bit of money, medical care for you and the baby. Would you be interested in something like that? >> For me and the baby? >> While you are pregnant, we would consider the baby's health as well as yours. So we wouldn't want you to stop receiving prenatal care. Have you been going to the doctor already? >> Not really. No. >> Not really. Okay. So, we have programs we can help you with that. Would you be interested in going to the doctor and getting a checkup and making sure that the baby is okay? >> I'll have to think about that. I don't know. Maybe. >> Well, I just want to go back for a moment. I know we talked about a lot of things in our session, but I just want to make sure that you're not planning on killing yourself or harming yourself in any way? >> I don't think so. I've thought about it. I guess I thought about it. >> Okay. >> But I don't think so. Not right now. >> Okay. That really concerns me when you say I don't think so, but you have thought about it? >> Yeah. I mean who hasn't? I mean things are really, really crappy right now. >> I understand. >> I don't know. Frankly I'm too tired to even think about it. >> I know you're tired. So when you say you're too tired to think about it, what does that mean? >> I just can't go through with it. I just need to kind of I guess just, I don't know, but I think I'm okay. >> Okay. Well, I'm really concerned about you and I want you to know that I genuinely am concerned about you and your well-being and the well-being of your baby also. So, on a scale of 1 to 10 like 1 being I'm fine, nothing is wrong and 10 being I'm going to walk out the door right now and I'm going to kill myself, where would you say you are right now? >> Probably a 4. >> A 4. >> Three or four. I'm okay. Thank you for your worry. I think I'm going to be okay. As much as I say I don't really want this baby, she is part of me and I realize if I do that I'll be killing her too so I don't want to do that. >> Okay. Okay. Well, it still concerns me that you've had these thoughts, Amy, and I think it would just for me and for you I would really like if we could draw up a contract that ways I don't plan on hurting myself when I leave here and we can both sign it and I can give you my number and when you're feeling, if you're feeling upset at any time you know that you can call me or call the agency. Any of these counselors they'll be able to listen. How would you feel about signing something like that? >> That I really could call up here any time I wanted? >> Sure. >> Yeah, I could probably do that. I think, yeah. >> Okay. So you'd be willing to sign that document? >> Yeah, I could do that. >> Okay.
