Student Handout: WRITE AN ESSAY 5950 Homework

Instructions to the Student: The purpose of the essay is to provide a vehicle to assess the student’s critical thinking and academic writing skills while at the same time providing material for further discussion within each seminar group. Although you must cite any sources used to support your ideas, this is an opinion paper that does not require the use of outside sources. Use original thought; analyze the topic with the knowledge you have gained in the course and through your life experiences. Assignment: The assignment is to write a 500-1000 word (2-3 page) opinion paper answering one of the below questions. The essay word count does not include the required essay coversheet. Students must complete and submit the essay using the required coversheet, SC5950HW.docx, which is a Microsoft Word file. Students may use any word processing software to complete the assignment; however, the submitted file must be exported or saved as a .doc or a .docx file format (most current word processing products—including several free ones—support this function) before it is uploaded to your course site.

a. How can a noncommissioned officer sustain the transformation for themselves and their Marines and why is it important?

b. How can a noncommissioned officer develop and maintain resilient Marines? Why is it important to develop a resilient mind, body, and spirit within subordinate Marines?

c. How are the responsibilities a noncommissioned officer has toward their unit, subordinates, and seniors different for a staff noncommissioned officer? If they are not different, why?
