Subculture: Women's Clothing in Southern Saudi Arabia

Southern Arabia is a very culturally diverse region, encompassing Yemen, Oman, the UAE, and of course, Saudi Arabia. Contrary to popular belief here in the United States, nothing much is holding back Women in Saudi Arabia anymore. Driving, fashion, and business is not hindered what so ever. Certain groups of women made sure to take this into their hands, and take advantage of it by creating beautiful ethinc clothign and mixing it with the culture of the region, to produce beautiful photos and designs. Certain models, for example, Sarah Aladwani, who works as a make-up artist and fashion designer and model. The other one, Yara Alnamlah, works the same way, however she focuses more on make-up artistry.

Over 1,000 Saudi women traveled without a male guardian for the first time in decades after the country loosened its sexist laws

They were able to travel on their own for the first time in decades as Saudi Arabia moves to ease its outdated guardianship laws that restrict women's freedoms.

Saudi Press Agency announced that it had officially implemented amendments to regulations which allow women aged 21 and over to apply for and obtain a passport without permission from a male guardian and remove rules that required women to receive permission each time they wanted to cross the Saudi border. This gives them equal standing with men on the same age.

The changes also allow women to complete other tasks formally restricted to men, including registered the birth of a child, a marriage, a divorce, or a death.
