1. Explain the relevance of systems thinking to the project, program and portfolio manager.
|
The objective of this week’s topic is to ask questions about how systems thinking can be implemented. To achieve this we need to have a good understanding of:
I have learnt that system thinking works as a diagnostic tool. Besides being a system of tools, it also acts as a philosophy. I have also learnt that it needs courage, compassion, choice, clarity, and curiosity.
It tries to expand the variety of choices that are available to solve an issue.
The followings are the tools and techniques used in systems thinking
Brainstorming tools
Dynamic thinking tools
Structural thinking tools
Computer based tools
The system thinking helps the project managers to understand the issues, the sequential actions that are to be taken and the possible solutions. It helps the managers with casual loops, system archetypes, stock and flow diagrams, rich pictures and other templates and guidelines.
No, it is not the actual way to obtain the solutions of the project problems.
According to me systems thinking and systems engineering really helped them.
According to the chief counsel’s report, BP does not have adequate idea regarding systems thinking.
According to me, the readings provide insight about the learning outcomes in a significant manner. It helped to understand the relevance of systems thinking to the project, program and portfolio manager. It also helped in determining different systems thinking tools and techniques to aid project managers solve project problems. At the same, it also helped in understandings the systems engineering concepts and methodologies.
Yes, there are other insights that can be made from what I have studied. It can also be used in my work and life experiences.
