Strengths

You have created a very nice presentation here, Darlene. You have used illustrations very effectively, especially on slides 4, 7, and 14. The decision wheel you use on slide 4 does a particularly great job of visualizing the method you are describing in your PowerPoint.

You have also done a great job with your layout, referring back to your blueprint before moving on to each new section. You have also remembered to refer to your blueprint one last time, as a kind of review, after covering all of its listed points.

Weaknesses

In the outline of this final project, we were told to use a master slide that we create ourselves instead of using a PowerPoint template. It seems that you have not created a master slide to save yourself time and effort on the slide formatting. As a result, the image on slide 8 appears to “jump” into a new position on slide 9.

Also, all of your slides are formatted very similarly, with the image of the screwdriver. Our assignment outline suggests that we use three coordinated, yet different slide designs to separate each different part. You should have a separate slide design for your cover slide, your blueprint slides, and your content slides.

One more suggestion that I can make is to tone it down a bit with the animations. Animations are a great tool for calling attention to certain important points and for slide transitions, but if they are overused it can become a distraction. I had to click through many times for slides 7, 10, and 13 before moving on to the next and I think that would even be distracting for you to have to remember how many times you need to click to get through a slide while presenting.

One example of overuse of animations is on your blueprint slides. I think it would be best if you didn’t use any animations on your blueprint slides, save for the initial one. I also would suggest that you choose only two different colors of text as the red-green-black was a bit distracting to me. If you stick with just black and red, using red as the highlight color for the current slide and black for all of the rest I think that would be better.

Opportunities

Your project has the potential to really shine, there are just some minor things that need to be addressed. Add in a master slide to keep everything consistent, and change up the slide design a bit for the three different sections. Also, consider removing some of your excess animations to lessen the distractions and keep your audience focus on the topic at hand.

Great job Darlene, and good luck with your final letter!
