We the Victims of Vaccination
Within the past couple of years, vaccination has become a huge topic of debate. People have grown up learning and accepting the benefits and roles that vaccines have in our modern world. For example, vaccines are beneficial to our health, those around us, and has been proven to stop or eliminate illnesses such as polio. What many have failed to realize, however, is that vaccines infringe and harm upon our individual rights, our bank accounts, and if the practice continues, it may even harm our health. Vaccination may have begun as a miracle and breakthrough for mankind, however as our civilization grew, so did means of acquiring control and profit.
Society has grown accustomed to the bright side, the positive effects of vaccines. However, there is indeed a dark side to the practice. Ever individual’s body is different. There is no precise telling how every individual will react to receiving certain vaccines. All vaccines carry the risk of side effects. Vaccines have the harmful potential to give either mild, severe, and in some cases, fatal side effects. Within infants and adolescents, the CDC has reported that one per million children who are vaccinated risk of a life threatening allergic reaction. In the rotavirus vaccine, the risk of intussusception, or a severe condition of constipation and bowel blockage, may develop, which requires immediate medical attention. Other side effects include pneumonia, which is attributed from the chickenpox vaccine, according to the CDC. Throughout adolescents, teens, and adults, vaccination usually causes mild symptoms such as a fever, pain, and various other flu like symptoms. Although said symptoms are treatable, the risk and harm still stands, and when afflicted onto infants, the child may not have enough time for saving.
Vaccination, if continued as is, is a harm to all financially. The fight for affordable healthcare within the U.S lives on today as many have compared healthcare standards placed in other countries. Having one of the most expensive healthcare systems in the world, the U.S has given their citizens with a dream to chase and follow. “You should have this, you must have that” …a radical paraphrase of what the U.S government governs Americans to do with their body’s and wallets. Vaccines, like other medications and treatments, are not only for the health benefit for those ill, but a cash grab. Vaccines, the production, the research, the distribution are all a capitalist corporation, which lives off the most important thing in America, it’s citizens, and profit. Vaccination is not free and if not through insurance, medical treatment is not cheap. The industries behind vaccines such as Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi, and Pfizer, have reached a capital gain of $23 billion dollars back in 2014 (“Vaccines & Immunizations”). By 2020 however, according to the New York Times, it is estimated that the vaccine industry will reach a capital of approximately $42 billion dollars (Carroll). Vaccination has become harmful, and the commercialization and enforcement that continues to grow only depletes the bank accounts of the American people. In a modern and advanced society, vaccination should not be mandatory for anyone because most sickness in the early to mid-1900s was caused due sanitary conditions. The U.S has had a sharp drop in diseases since the 1940s because of nutrition, refrigeration, and public sanitation and hygiene (garbage/recycle collection, clean water, soap), not vaccination. With commercialism of vaccination rising from the government, our own individual freedom is threatened to do as we please with our own bodies.
Ridiculous as it is, a major pro towards vaccines is that they provide economic benefits for society. Our society clearly values economic benefit rather than the wellbeing for those who live in the world. The U.S is a capitalist nation which seeks to manipulate our media and perception to believe that the net worth and costs are justifiable. When saying their achievement of being an economic benefit shouts corporate fat cat. For the general public, we are the ones ultimately paying the price as the vaccine industry profits. Countries such as Canada, include healthcare for all and although it is incorporated within their taxes, an arm and a leg is not sacrificed as it must be for the struggle of stable healthcare in America. The vaccine industry should instead become a non-for-profit organization, giving the right of healthcare to everyone in this world.
The government has made their citizens it’s victims to vaccination. Not only has the government moved in on harming our individual freedom, but our First Amendment right. The first Amendment of the constitution states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise,” or, our freedom of religion. Within certain religions, vaccination or medication may be controversial or a violation to one’s beliefs. There are indeed religions that oppose vaccinations and they should be protected under their First Amendment right. For those who are Christian Scientists, founder Mary Baker Eddy has stated that the “calm, Christian state of mind is a better preventative of contagion than a drug, or than any other possible sanative method…the “perfect Love” that “casteth out fear” is a sure defense” (Howd). Those under the Church of Illuminations follow the teachings that injections of vaccines and inoculations are a violation of their biblical teachings, believing that immunizations and vaccinations are a form of pollution to the blood and soul. As for the Universal Family Church, they believe that the parents should decide whether to vaccinate or not. The Universal Family Church carries the belief that “God intends the health decisions of individuals should…be honored by all authorities,” giving the responsibility either to the parents or God (“Vaccines ProCon.org”). If vaccination gradually becomes enforced, it completely attacks and harm our religious freedom, our First Amendment Right within our Constitution. To digress, would this issue not be as similar as how people become frustrated about their U.S right to bear arms? If gun laws are not enforced strong enough or completely stripped to avoid other mass shooting tragedies, why exactly should vaccinations be forced amongst individuals and their children if protected and under their right to religious freedom? Enforcing mandatory vaccination is an infringement on U.S citizen’s First Amendment right, harming our religious freedom.
Americans are victims to vaccination and vaccines are harmful to philosophical beliefs. When receiving vaccines, we do not tend to wonder what else is within the syringe besides the broken-down form of the illness. As shocking as it is, animal products are found across vaccines which may conflict with vegetarians, vegans, and again religions like Judaism and Islam. Vaccinations for HPV, IPV, MMR, flu, chicken pox, and more, have revealed to be made with animal products. Some products include chicken eggs, insect cells, cocker spaniel cells, pig gelatin, and cells from African Green Monkeys. Those who aspire to live a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle are contradicted and conflicted if revealed that animal cells and products are injected into our bodies for our benefit of immunity. For individuals who are allergic to particular ingredients such as chicken eggs can result in a harmful reaction that can result in death. As for those who practice either Judaism or Islam, because of the trace of pig gelatin, common vaccinations are in fact unholy, as pigs are not kosher or halal. Vaccines are very unnatural and conflicting.
Aside from the unnatural use of animal products to produce vaccines, the other ingredients do not get prettier. Vaccines contain harmful ingredients within each syringe. Like a box of cereal with the nutrition facts, labeling the ingredients, calories, sugar, etc., we do not typically receive that when about to receive a vaccine. In a progressive and curious world, why should us citizens be informed what exactly is going into our bodies? It is argued how vaccines save children and their parents time and money due to over the counter medication spending, taking time off with their children, etc., however we have the ability to read the details of what is within cough syrups, or gel capsules, whereas vaccines, we are stripped of that right. Like the fight to label GMOs, a fight to disclose the ingredients within vaccines should be given prior to vaccination. We are usually told we will feel a pinch, and it will make us feel better for the year. Ingredients found in vaccines are those typically seen or used normally, can result in death or fatal injury. Vaccines include formaldehyde, aluminum, mercury, glutaraldehyde, a compound that is mainly a disinfectant for medical equipment, and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMB), which is a compound typically used as an antiseptic. All the listed elements and compounds, when given in excess, can be very risky and harmful. Excess aluminum can result in neurological damage. Formaldehyde is a carcinogen and exposure can cause side effects such as cardiac impairment, central nervous system depression, change in cognitive functions, coma, convulsions, and of course, death. Glutaraldehyde exposure can result in the development in asthma and irreparable respiratory issues. Within various other vaccines like the polio vaccine, a chemical called 2-phenoxyethanol can be found, posing the risk of headaches, shock, convulsions, kidney damage, cardiac and kidney failure, and death. Vaccines are produced using controversial and harmful ingredients which are typically fatal and dangerous to use normally.
