Sample Paper 2 Review

The sample paper that I have selected to review is sample paper 2. The sample paper is about an interview with a veterinary doctor, Dr. Gina Pena. The doctor is questioned about the veterinary field and the challenges being experienced. Also, the paper has drawn information drawn from an online survey conducted on veterinary doctors. The paper also addresses the change in market trends and legislation of certain drugs and how the changes affect the veterinary field. According to the aim of the interview was to discuss the goals and hardships any new graduate or seasoned veterinarian desires from the field.

I think the paper has all the required content. This is because, in the beginning, the author mentions that the main objective of the interview was to discuss goals and hardships that veterinary, both seasoned and new graduates experience in the field. The paper adequately addresses the hardships. However, it does not discuss the goals adequately. The body of the paper has three parts. The first part talks about the mental health concern within the veterinary field; the second part addresses the opioid crisis within the veterinary field, while the last part discusses the marketing trends in the field. As seen, both three parts address the challenges. However, the opioid section slightly talks about the goals of a veterinary doctor.

The writing is clear and concise. This can be seen in the manner in which the writing is organized. It begins with an introduction, which gives a brief description of what to expect within the paper. It also introduces the sources of information in the paper. The paper is divided into sections—each section with a main theme. The sections have topic sentences followed by explanations and supporting quotes as well. The whole work flows due to the organization. There is a systematic transition from one point to the next, and the grammar used in the paper is ok. Also, the English is simple, therefore making it clear, and the vocabulary used is in line with the setting.

The content of the paper is focusing on the reader but still giving the required attention to the veterinary field. I think that the content of the paper is reader-focused because the language and vocabulary used is simple. Even though the vocabulary is in line with the field of veterinary, it does not use terms that only the people in the field can understand. The terms used can be understood by both the veterinary people and people from other fields. Also, the paper focuses on the challenges in the field, not in a manner that creates empathy and pity for the people in the field, but in a manner, which makes the people understand what the field is about. It shows the field from the perspective of the reader using the experiences of the professionals.

I think the intended audience for the paper is clear. I also believe that the intended audience is the people who are not in the field and those who wish to join the field. This is because the content looks at the challenges and the goals of the field. The paper tries to paint an image of what it is like to be in the field of veterinary. If the paper aimed at people in the field, I am quite sure the presentation would have been different. For example, the terminologies used would have been a little bit more complex than the ones used. More so, it would have given an in-depth look into the goals of the field.

The details of the interview are presented in an organized manner, with simple language. Therefore, conveying the details in a way that is helpful and accessible for the reader. The reader does not have to struggle to understand the aim of the paper and to understand the language used as well. The paper is helpful because it helps the reader have an insight into what it is like to be a veterinary. To sum it up, the paper is content and reader oriented. The vocabulary and grammar used are simple. The paper is well organized; therefore, simple to understand. I like the paper.
