I. THE INTRODUCTION A. Firstly, I want to say that Alberta is a province in Canada. Alberta is a hidden gem home to 5 national parks and
North America’s largest mall, and a weird fact I found is that it’s surprisingly the only rat free zone in North
America, (Fun Facts of Alberta: History of Alberta, n.d.).
B. Since 38% of the class on the survey answered that they liked travelling, Alberta is certainly a place to travel to
because of the many different experiences it has to offer.
C. I have been to Alberta 3 times, in 3 different seasons and have explored 4 out of the 5 national parks and many
other tourist attractions in Alberta.
D. Alberta has many activities and places to visit for all kinds of people and for every season.
E. Today I will inform the audience about Banff and Jasper National Parks, along with the West Edmonton mall
and will go through some activities that can be done there.
F. The first place to visit I’m about to talk about is Banff National Park
II. THE BODY
A. Banff National Park
1. Banff National Park is Canada's first and the world's third national park. The park itself is 2,564 square miles
and 96 percent of the park is wilderness. Banff National Park attractions are split into three areas, in and around Banff Town,
around Lake Louise and along Icefields Parkway, (Banff National Park. n.d.).
2. There are many activities for everyone depending on their interests. Some that I chose to add include hiking,
biking and fishing on Lake Louise and Lake Moraine. In Sunshine Village, Gondola and Ski lift rides are available for those
who don’t like hiking, it is a 45 minute ride up one way. Another activity includes horse riding in the mountain sides of
Kananaskis. Some activities that only happen in the winter include dog sledding, snowshoeing and skiing, (Banff National Park,
n.d.).
Transition Statement: The next national park I’m about to show you guys is the biggest one in Canada, known as
Jasper National Park
B. Jasper National Park
1. Compared to Banff, Jasper is more sight-seeing and nature based but it has many fun nature related activities.
The first one I decided to include is white river rafting in the canyons. It is one of the most popular summer activity. There are
guided rafting tours to solo kayaking, when rafting you see the park from a whole new perspective. Rafting trips can last from
anywhere to 30 minutes to 3 hours, (Rafting, n.d.).
2. Another activity includes stargazing because Jasper is the second biggest Dark Sky Preserves in the world.
This means that there is limited light pollution that creates the ideal condition to view stars. The ideal time to watch the stars is
around October. The Jasper Planetarium offers interactive shows every night of the year in their 50-seat dome, using the most
powerful telescopes in the Rockies. The aurora borealis could also be viewed between midnight and 2 am, (Jasper Dark Sky
Preserve, n.d.).

Transition Statement: Now, for people who don’t really care for nature or outdoor activities, that’s okay, there are
things to do for you as well!
C. West Edmonton Mall
1. West Edmonton Mall is the province’s number one tourist attraction and is the biggest mall in North
America. It is a place where people can shop, play and stay. The Mall is 5.3 million square feet big, around the size of a small
city and is also accredited as a zoo. West Edmonton Mall has more than 800 stores and services, the widest variety of one-of-a-
kind retailers, and entertainment for all ages. Around 30 million people visit here yearly (West Edmonton Mall, n.d).
2. What makes West Edmonton Mall different from others is that it has the world’s biggest indoor amusement
park and underground aquarium, two hotels, over 100 dining venues, a waterpark, ice rink, mini golf, bowling and an escape
room just to name a few (Your Guide to West Edmonton Mall: Explore Edmonton, n.d.).
III. THE CONCLUSION
A. In conclusion, I hope you learned a little about some of the key places to visit in Alberta and what activities you
could do there.
B. There are many attractions and activities available for everyone in every season, whether it be nature related,
outdoor activities or indoor activities.
C. The places I mentioned in were Banff National Park, Jasper National Park and West Edmonton Mall.
D. Hopefully, this presentation made you want to visit Alberta and explore what it has to offer, when this
quarantine ends and it’s safe for us to travel again. What I covered was just the tip of the iceberg and there are many activities
for everyone in every season. Alberta is truly a hidden gem.
