The topic of this essay proposal is the issue of faculty pay raises at Stillman College.

Focus [Explain the problem. Why should people care about your topic?]

Stillman College faculty currently receive salaries that are significantly lower than their

colleagues at other institutions of higher education. Stillman College regularly loses qualified

faculty members because they leave to pursue more lucrative opportunities at other colleges and

universities. To continue to educate its student population, Stillman College must address the

issue of faculty salaries.

Stillman College should provide regular pay raises to its faculty members to discourage its

faculty members from accepting positions at other colleges/universities, to compensate for the

rise in the cost of living, and to express its gratitude for the service the faculty members perform.
