Abstract
The primary reason for this research paper is to introduce Child Health Investment Partnership
(CHIP) of Roanoke Valley while observing the services the organization provides their internal
and external consumers, as well as the organization's consumer base. Also, the paper will expand
upon eight of the critical concepts that are relevant to CHIP's organizational setting. This paper
will explain in detail how each concept relates to CHIP as well as the benefits each theory
delivers when utilized. Nevertheless, this paper will clarify what is required to implement each
idea for the organization to become successful. This paper will demonstrate that via the
implementation of these critical principles a profitable venture operation will run more
efficiently and effectively.
Keywords: operational management, innovation, lean management, effectiveness

Organizational Setting
Introduction
Child Health Investment Partnership (CHIP) of Roanoke Valley, is a non-profit
organization. Dr. Douglas and Cabell Brand established the organization in 1987. To provide
underserved and low-income children and their families within the Greater Roanoke Valley with
health care services. In recent years Chip has certain foregone drawbacks which conceivably
detrimental moving forward. Thus, the significant precession of the institution ought to be the
reevaluation of operational management. In regards to concepts of operation management; every
organization assumes a production system to perform its operations to guarantee their
proficiency and effectiveness. Occasionally businesses should reassess operations and supply
chain management with the focus of cohesiveness and lucrativeness of the organization.
Mission
Child Health Investment Partnership (CHIP) of Roanoke Valley is an early childhood
home visiting program, in Roanoke, Virginia. CHIPs mission statement is to "change the lives of
underserved children and their families through access to comprehensive health care services and
community resources"[Chi17]. CHIP of Roanoke pairs pregnant moms, low-income children,
birth to first-grade entry, and their guardians with a Community Health Nurse and Family Case
Manager to help them access needed medical services, to assist with the management of chronic
conditions and to provide developmental education, kindergarten preparation, and regular child
assessment and monitoring (Health is Hope, 2017). CHIP of Roanoke offers various programs
for its client population such as the following: Asthma case management, Oral health, Family
strengthening services, Healthcare coordination, medically needy & NICU case management,
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 7
pregnant moms program, and mental health counseling (Health is Hope, 2017). CHIP of
Roanoke doesn't have any direct competitors that offer their various services.
Customers
For the past thirty years CHIP has provided its services to low income and underserved
children and their families (beneficiaries) within the Roanoke Valley. Furthermore, CHIP also
offers a good to its charitable donors. The good is intangible it’s an emotion, that "good feeling"
of helping another. Additionally, stakeholders and the government (government grant funding for
the organization). Moreover, there are serval internal customers of the organization, such as the
staff members, board members, and volunteers. Nevertheless, every person in the supply chain is
essential to delivering excellent service.
Value
As a volunteer at various events held by the CHIP of Roanoke, I contribute my time,
compassion, and my faith in the organization's mission. Per Joni Reid (2012) "all volunteers
share at least one value simply because they've chosen to donate their time: the value of
participation" [Rei121]. I also add value by telling others of the mission and vision statement of
CHIP of Roanoke, to gain new donors. Studies have proven that "word-of-mouth (WOM) is an
important influence on the opinions of donors and their donation behaviors" [Wil17]. As a
volunteer I'm not paid to do the deeds I do for the organization, my deeds aren't for gratification
it’s to help others in need.
Biblical Integration
Helping others people will, in turn, help one to get rid of negative emotions like anger or
grief, reduce stress, increase joy, improve your physical and mental health, renew your sense of
hope about what's possible, improve your sense of self-worth, and connect you to caring people.
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 8
When you give some of your resources (such as time, energy, or money) to help others, you free
yourself from a preoccupation with your own needs and help yourself trust God more. You also
discover and fulfill more of God's purposes for your life, which will bring you joy.
Matthew 25:35-40 (KJV) "For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and
ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and
ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him,
saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When
saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick,
or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto
you, Since ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
When you have and show compassion for those in need, you are displaying a merciful attitude
that God excepts each one of his children to display. Whenever you help someone else not only
do they benefit from the help, but the help you gave is uplifting and edifying to God.
Chapter Concepts
Operations and supply chain management are critical to the success of any organization
moving forward. Operations management entails designing and controlling the process of
production and redesigning business operations in the production of goods or services. It
includes the responsibility of ensuring that business operations are efficient concerning using as
few resources as needed and functional regarding customer requirements. Nevertheless, the
supply chain is a sequence of approaches that are necessary to be accomplished to produce and
distribute a commodity. The commodity could be a good or a service. It is inevitably a
requirement for a clear manufacturing procedure for the products or services to be produced.
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 9
Possessing a secure supply chain is crucial to that goal, and so is managing it effectively, so the
supply chain can deliver the best outcomes. Consequently, it's essential to business health.
This exposition will demonstrate eight provisions that are fundamental topics that are
focal points in any successful organization. These topics will convey how effective operations
and supply chain management can be as it pertains to CHIP of Roanoke Valley.
Total Quality Management
“Quality is everybody’s responsibility” – Edward Deming
There are various interpretations of Total Quality Management (TQM). Nevertheless, all
explanations concentrate on the endeavors established by organizations to meet the requirements
of the customer. For example, TQM is a management philosophy and company practices that to
harness the human and material resources of an organization in the most effective way to achieve
the objectives of the organization[Kir171]. Moreover, TQM is the structure established on the
possibility that an organization can manufacture long haul accomplishment by having every one
of its employees, from low-level laborers to its most elevated positioning officials, center around
quality change and, in this manner, conveying consumer loyalty. Additionally, TQM ensures that
every employee is working towards the improvement of the organizational culture, processes,
services, systems and so on to ensure long-term success. Also, TQM's primary goals are to get
rid of waste and increase efficiencies by making sure that the manufacturing of the organization's
product and or service is completed the first time correctly.
Benefits
There happen to be numerous benefits of an organization utilizing total quality
management (TQM) such as the following; cost reduction, customer satisfaction, defect
reduction, and employee morale.
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 10
Cost reduction. When continuously employed as time progresses, TQM can decrease
expenditures within an organization, particularly in the domains of scrap, rework, field service,
and warranty cost reduction. Whereas these cost reductions flow straight from the bottom-line
profits without any additional costs sustained, there can be a startling increase in profitability.
Customer satisfaction. When an organization is producing and providing services, and its
relationship with its customers are error-free, there are typically fewer customer complaints.
Fewer customer complaints may result in resources dedicated to customer service e could be
diminished. A more elevated amount of consumer loyalty may likewise prompt an expanded
piece of the overall industry, as existing clients follow up for the organization's sake to get more
clients.
Defect reduction. TQM has a solid accentuation on enhancing quality inside a procedure, as
opposed to assessing quality into a procedure. This not just diminishes the time expected to settle
mistakes however makes it less critical to utilize a group of value affirmation staff.
Employee Morale. The progressing and demonstrated accomplishment of TQM and specifically
the interest of representatives in that achievement can prompt a detectable change in worker
morale, which this way diminishes representative turnover, and accordingly decreases the
expense of procuring and preparing new representatives.
However, TQM additionally requires a considerable training duration for each person
involved in the organization. Whereas the training will take employees from their ordinary work
activities, this can certainly have a poor momentary impact on costs. Also, for the reason that
TQM tends to result in persevering with a sequence of incremental changes, it can generate a
negative reaction from those employees who choose the contemporary system, or who
experience that they may also lose their jobs due to the fact of it.
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 11
Implementation
In order for an organization to implement Total Quality Management, it must meet the
following requirements: commitment by top management, commitment of resources,
organization-wide steering committee, planning and publicizing, infrastructure that supports
deployment and continual improvement. First and foremost, the fundamental advance in TQM
usage is to evaluate the organization's present reality. Regarding the organization's history, its
present needs, encouraging occasions prompting TQM, and the present worker nature of working
life. On the off chance that the present reality does exclude fundamental preconditions, TQM
usage ought to be postponed until the point when the organization is in a state in which TQM is
likely to succeed. An organization must be in a healthy state before utilizing TQM. If the
organization is undergoing significant problems such as a volatile funding base, weak
administrative systems, lack of managerial skill, or poor employee morale, TQM would not be
appropriate.
There are a few steps in which an organization must carry out while implementing TQM:
monitoring and evaluation, briefing quality, consultation, lateral communication, external
communication, structure, quality targets, harmonization, training, and continuous improvement.
Nevertheless, TQM is a continuous effort on the entire organization. Hence, in order for CHIP to
have a successful implementation as well as achieve success in TQM, the organization will need
to do all the following:
1. Identify quality as a strength
2. Recognize quality in all processes
3. Drive the importance of management
4. Ensure the involvement, commitment, and responsibility of everybody
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 12
5. Strive for continuous improvement
6. Achieve zero defects
7. Focus on prevention rather than inspection
8. Focus on meeting the needs of target customers
9. Master benchmarking
CHIPs management should also remember that TQM ought to be purpose driven. The
organization’s vision and mission for the future should always be the number one priority. In
order for the organization to be effective and efficient. Overall, TQM can enhance the business
performance of CHIP[Baj181]. As well as improve the quality of the organizations management
team, boosts competitiveness among other non-profits within the Roanoke Valley, and add value
to customers as well.
Biblical Integration
Those that hold the title manager have a great responsibility for the work that is being
conducted by their employees (subordinates) and with this comes great challenges. When God is
placed first in all that one does there is no room for doubt nor error, because God is continuously
guiding and ordaining one's steps. In business in general God states in Habakkuk 2:2 “Then the
Lord replied: Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald[a] may run
with it.” (New International Version) Meaning let one's vision and mission be known, to ensure
that you are transparent in all that you do. Also, with an organization utilizing TQM they must
remember and meditate on Proverbs 1:5 in which states, “A wise man will hear, and will increase
learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:” (King James Version)
Customization
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 13
Customization refers to the efforts of companies to offer goods and services specifically
designed or customized according to the needs of a particular customer, a group of customers, or
an entire market (country) (Yalcin, 2009). The focus of customization or customization technique
is the concentration of precise consumer’s necessities. Customization serves as a means to
address the variety-seeking behavior in consumers (Jafari, H., Nyberg, A., Osnes, T., Schmitz,
A., JTH, 2015). Customization is also seen as the newest form of branding strategy because it
demonstrates a vital role in increasing efficiency, and ensures maximum optimization of
resources at hand, and cutting down unnecessary wastage. However, customization requires
flexibility, on behalf of an organization.
Additionally, mass customization is closely related to customization. Mass customization
is a defined as” a technique of marketing in which goods and services are produced at scale but
are sold at a reasonable price and are highly tailored to meet individual customer needs” (Doyle,
2016). Mass customization typically uses mass-production techniques to complete part of the
product, the rest of it then being customized based upon customer demand that will still keep
costs down (Doyle, 2016). Additionally, mass customization centers around giving clients great
incentive for their cash and expanding organization benefits. At the point when purchasers get
custom items, and they concentrate more on the benefits and less on cost.
Benefits
Customization merely is letting your customers choose how they would like to personalize
their product/ services such as their color scheme, or as personal as letting consumers add their
name and favorite color to an item. Customization is a flexible concept, encompassing
everything from entirely built-to-order for simple personalized packaging. There are ten essential
benefits for an organization to utilize customization: free publicity, higher prices, free market
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 14
research, a bigger slice of their gift appeal, repeat sales with lower return rates, stronger online
presence, the ability to sell directly to consumers without making your retailers mad, greater
customer loyalty, more sales, and streamlining the order process. Nevertheless, customization
allows customers to engage more intensively in creating customized products of what they
desire. Also, customers are often more pleased with the finished product they receive, as it is to
their specification. An organization can forge strong relationships with their customers, leading
to return business time and again. Reduces scrap quantity and storage costs as nothing is
produced until an order is received. It also eradicates inventories of unsold goods and raw
materials. By analyzing consumer requirements, companies can detect certain trends and gain
competitive advantages.
Implementation
The implementation of customization as one of the operationally systems utilized by
CHIP would allow CHIP to give its internal as well as external customers what they desire.
Without wastage, giving the families the necessary help needed to ensure that the entire family is
healthy and knowledge of overall medical issues. Also, the internal customers (employees, board
members, stakeholders, etc.) are receiving the required training to generate customer satisfaction
continuously.
Biblical Integration
Customization has been around since the beginning of time. Whereas God has created us all in
his image with unique features, personalities, and character traits. God does not want us to be
afraid of being different, but to be afraid of being alike, he has given us all our explicit purpose
on earth. Romans 12:6-8 (KJV) reads, “having then gifts differing according to the grace that is
given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry,
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 15
let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on
exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that
sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness”. God is the first to utilize mass customization; he started with
the creation of this world as well as humanity. With humanity, there are so many variations from
a race, to male/female, short/tall and the list goes on.
Six Sigma
The idea Six Sigma was at first created in 1986 by Motorola. The business administration
methodology is right now used in different enterprises to enhance the nature of items as well as
administrations delivered by an association through the expulsion of deformities and mistakes.
The term six sigma originates from the numerical idea that keeping up six standard deviations of
variety inside the bounds of the procedure resilience breaking points will about take out items
that neglect to meet required particulars (with the objective of close to 3.4 imperfections for
every million chances) (Lee, 2016). Additionally, the methodology includes making gatherings
of individuals inside the association who have master status in different techniques, and after
that, each task is done by an arrangement of ventures to achieve particular budgetary points of
reference. A six sigma process is characterized as one in which 99.99966% of items made are
required to be factually free from deformities. The objective of Six Sigma is to wipe out
imperfections by expelling difference inside assembling and additionally business frameworks
(Lee, 2016).
Benefits
While an organization uses Six Sigma preparing for its workforce in any regard levels
inside an association can be thought process an expansion in efficiency and benefit. The base of a
Six Sigma writing computer programs is an extraordinarily refined base of connected staff. Once
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 16
the significant gathering of a gathering with Six Sigma instructing achieves a base whole inside
the affiliation, the benefit can begin to redesign without expanding capital costs. Six Sigma to
enable organizations to streamline activities, increment esteem and decrease squander. The
disadvantages to these strategies are that they can be muddled and a lot of preparing might be
included. Nonetheless, there are numerous advantages that organizations can accomplish by
utilizing these instruments. The benefit of utilizing six sigma increment worker association,
decrease cost, increment client, and fulfillment.
Implementation
The initial step of actualizing Six Sigma is by a business change approach when an
association experiences a total change to change over its customary technique for working with
the end goal to recapture lost clients or to beat the huge misfortunes. The second is the vital
change approach constrained to a couple of basic business needs concentrating on noteworthy
chances and shortcomings. The third is a critical thinking approach which concentrates just on
determined issues. Per Lee (2016) Six Sigma is exceptionally gainful to a social insurance
association. Actualizing Six Sigma to CHIP would be supported in enhancing the productivity of
the therapeutic office execution enabling staff to work more intelligent and not harder to upgrade
the encounters of their customers amid home visits, giving them the capacity to give a high-
estimation of consideration, and enhance the monetary execution of associations.
Biblical Integration
Things are constantly changing in the world of business, hence, a business must flow
with the changings in order to succeeded. Therefore, there is always room for improvement. As
stated in 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for
reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness”. (English Standard Version) The
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 17
meaning of this bible verse is to state that there is no room for error, if one is following the
teachings and way of God. Improvement is beneficial yet one must always place God first to
give him the ability to guide and direct one in the right way.
Innovation
Innovation may be defined as the effective application of strategies and products new to
the organization and designed to benefit it and its stakeholders” (Baregheh, A., Rowley, J., &
Sambrook, S., 2009). Innovation is known to play a crucial function in developing value and
sustaining competitive advantage. Nevertheless, innovation may additionally involve an
extensive variety of different sorts of change depending on the organization's resources, abilities,
techniques, and requirements. Nevertheless, innovation drives new ideas, product improvement,
and new and varying services suggestions for businesses. There are four forms of innovation;
sustaining innovation, breakthrough innovation, disruptive innovation, and basic research. The
most commonly used is sustain innovation due to the fact frequently organizations are in search
of methods to enhance what is already established. An organization can benefit internal from
utilizing innovation, such as new technology.
Benefits
“Innovation is a collective process of idea generation and implementation that builds
upon resources, skills, and personnel from different organizational functions”[Cui11]. In
addition, innovative ideas give healthcare organizations an advantage of aiding the organization
with minimizing the number of mistakes that are due to complicated interactions that can occur
amongst different healthcare professionals within organizations hence making healthcare
organizations less vulnerable to catastrophic outcomes. The key benefits of innovation are as
followed:
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 18
Improved productivity & reduced costs
Numerous process innovation is about decreasing unit expenses. Innovation is accomplished by
way of enhancing the production potential and flexibility of the business – to allow it to take
advantage of economies of scale.
Better quality
Higher quality products and services are more likely to meet customer needs. Assuming that the
product or services were appropriately marketed, that ought to result in higher income and
profits.
Building a product range
A business with a single product or confined product variety could undoubtedly benefit from
innovation. A broader product variety offers an opportunity for higher income profits as well as
reduce the risk for shareholders.
To handle legal and environmental issues
Innovation may allow the business to reduce its carbon emissions, produce much less waste or
possibly follow changing product regulation. modifications in-laws often pressure commercial
enterprise to innovate once they might not otherwise achieve this
More added value
Sensible innovation is a great way to establish a unique selling proposition ("USP") for a product
– something which the patron is ready to pay more for and which facilitates a commercial
enterprise differentiate itself from the competition.
Improved staff retention, motivation, and more natural recruitment
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 19
Potential quality recruits are often attracted to an organization with a reputation for innovation.
Hence, innovative organizations have a reputation for being inspiring locations in which to work.
Implementation
Innovation could be beneficial for CHIP if implement with the goal to improve the
overall organization. Hence innovation is a technique to seek better outcomes. When
incorporating innovation into CHIPs operations, they must understand that it takes a lot of time
to develop to bring out imaginative thinking within its employees that can charge new ideas.
Management must allow employees the ability to contribute to the creative process of the
organization. Make it possible for employees to convert their thoughts into reality. Management
needs to exhibit to its employees a route that results in creativity. Nevertheless, innovation
shouldn't be solely designate to the R&D department of the organization. CHIPs management
needs to understand that failure does come with innovation at times; failure is what the
organization can learn from to succeed.
Biblical Integration
Change and innovation are basic components of both natural and spiritual development.
The bible emphasis more on progression than on product, because all believers are in a process
(whether we resist it or not) of becoming the people God meant us to be. Without change, growth
is impossible. For an example looking at what God told Abram in, Genesis 12:1-3 states “Now
the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy
father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will
bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that
bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed”.
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 20
(King James Version) Abram also had a name change from Abram to Abraham. After giving God
complete control over his life. Change and innovation is never a bad decision once God has
control over the situation.
Benchmarking
Per Anand et al. (2008) “Benchmarking has been a popular topic for the last two decades
and its significance as a practical method in developing critical areas of business is indisputable”.
[Ana08]. Also benchmarking is one of the practicalities of continuous quality improvement.
Benchmarking is defined as the following: “a measurement of the quality of an organization's
policies, products, programs, strategies, etc., and their comparison with standard measurements,
or similar measurements of its peers”[nd1742]. The number one goals of benchmarking are (1) to
determine what and where enhancements are called for, (2) to investigate how other businesses
gain their high overall performance stages, and (3) to apply this data to enhance overall
performance.
Benefits
An advantage of benchmarking is lowering labor cost, improving product and or product
quality, increasing sales and profits, and considerations. Information collected from
benchmarking technique helps to compare both internal facility performance as well as external
performance. Also, Additionally, benchmarking different sorts of quality indicators is a
continuous measurement of a method or provider in comparison to those of competitors, industry
leaders, and similar companies so that it will implement development initiatives. From the data
obtained, a participating facility ought to be capable of easily identify strengths and weaknesses,
which can be used to develop an action plan to assist improve approaches. The purpose of using
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 21
data from external sources is to create exceptional practices and implement the same or
comparable procedures to achieve better outcomes.
Implementation
The implementation of benchmarking will benefit CHIP if it incorporates benchmarking
as a strategic tool in the following manner:
1. executive management could want to make benchmarking a priority and a standard business
practice. (resource allocation would need to be identified and accredited.)
2. CHIP would want to identify gaps in current strategies and performance that need to be
benchmarked.
3. determine the goals and scope of the benchmarking technique and record the goals. (internal
benchmarking or external benchmarking.)
4. identify a team that will report all current processes that are utilized by the organization.
5. identify and record information metrics.
6. develop a plan for collecting information.
7. determine what sources to make use of
8. methodology for gathering data and standards for information integrity
9. observe to learn to gaps in existing performance and processes.
10. expand a communication plan for executive management.
11. Make the recommended method enhancements.
12. replace and analyze on an agreed upon a frequent basis to ensure conformity.
Biblical Integration
Benchmarking is a way of comparing one's self to another. 2 Corinthians 13:5 states
“Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 22
this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless indeed you fail to meet the test".
When an organization uses benchmarking it requires the organization to look internally as well
as externally to determine strengths and weakness of the organization. Thusly, Galatians 6:4-5
states," Each of you must examine your own actions. Then you can be proud of your own
accomplishments without comparing yourself to others. Assume your own responsibility". God
doesn’t want use to be jealous or envious of another.
Poka Yoke
“Poka-yoke is a technique for avoiding simple human error in the workplace. The term
comes from the Japanese term for “fail-safing” or “mistake-proofing.” Poka-yoke is simply a
system designed to prevent inadvertent errors made by workers performing a process”[InS12].
The idea was formalized, and the term adopted, by Shigeo Shingo as a part of the Toyota
manufacturing system. Poka-yoke refers to any behavior-shaping constraint designed into a
system to prevent incorrect operation with the aid of the consumer.
Benefits
The advantages of an organization utilizing Poka-yoke are: exceptional techniques result
in quality products. Effective teams who work in a coordinated way to deliver value to the
consumer. A problem-solving subculture where there is no blaming when problems arise, but a
concerted attempt to resolve the actual problems. Waste elimination is on the heart of lean
wondering because product high-quality improves and delivery instances and prices are reduced.
non-stop development for solutions.
Implementation
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 23
CHIP should employ Poka-yoke as a useful resource with being on time to clients’ homes
as well as track information employees acquire from their clients. With proper discipline, work
instructions, and standardization, all mistakes can be averted. With a purpose to introduce
standardization into the procedure, staff should use color-coded folders that could be designed to
maintain all of the paperwork which might be wanted all through their client's care with the
organization, inclusive of the program forms wherein clients are enrolled and the coverage
approval of assistance form. Checklist for every program completion needs to be in client’s
folders.
Biblical Integration
Every business desires to be successful. Yet failure is one of those ugly realities of life
that happens all too common experience to everyone of to some degree. Hence, having the
ability to handle failure is an essential part of our spiritual life. Many of God’s children have
made mistakes such as Abraham, Moses, Elijah, David, Peter, and so on. Yet they all learned
from their mistakes. 2 Timothy 3:7 states “Ever learning, and never able to come to the
knowledge of the truth”. Meaning God doesn’t want use seeking the answers for a problem
elsewhere before coming to him. Ecclesiastes 2:26 states, “To the person who pleases him, God
gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and
storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing
after the wind.”
Customer Relationship Management
“Customer relationship management (CRM) refers to the type of enterprise software that
is designed to improve a company's interaction with its customers and thereby increase revenue
from sales”[Fun12]. Nevertheless, the use of CRM software program and strategies provides a
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 24
company with the potential to manage and examine all their customers’ organizational
interactions. The point of interest of CRM is to expand customer tendencies, improve customer
relationships and force solutions and practices that high-quality meet the needs and desires of the
customer.
Benefits
CRM provides a complete understanding for all customer relationships, taking into
consideration all points of customer contact and the different media through which customer’s
interface with the organization. CRM structures deliver companies the potential to track
customer interaction across a variety of channels, from e-mail to call centers. CRM can also
provide the customer information required to conduct personalized advertising and marketing
campaigns, factors of which would possibly consist of offers tailored to an individual visiting an
organization's website, dynamically served-up web pages for one-of-a-kind customers, and
personalized offers and announcements. Overall, CRM aids in understanding customers, improve
the informational organization, enhance communication, improves customer service, automation
of everyday tasks, and greater efficiency for multiple teams.
Implementation
As a client based service company, CRM implementation would be a useful approach that
management may want to put in force to encourage consumer retention through deliverable
metrics as well as data. To fully utilize the benefits of CRM, CHIP will want to implement the
following tactics:
1. decide upon deliverable and metrics that would be feasible for customer retention.
a. this may be performed on a case with the aid of case basis, which could be determined through
client wishes and outcome.
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 25
2. measure service reliability, response times and client interactions.
3. React swiftly to issues to create customer loyalty.
4. utilize CRM as a tool to increase client need competencies at all levels of the company.
Biblical Integration
God wants us to be honest in all are dealings. Hence, our relationships with others should
never negotiation our faith. 2 Corinthians 6:14 states “Be ye not unequally yoked together with
unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion
hath light with darkness?” Also, relationships with others are made possible by God, therefore
we must pray that God helps us to build good relationships with others.
Just-In-Time
The JIT management system originates from Toyota of Japan. Toyota was the first
company to implement this system successfully. “A just-in-time inventory system is a
management approach that aligns raw-material orders from suppliers without delay with
production schedules”[nd181]. JIT inventory controls have numerous advantages over traditional
models. Manufacturing runs remain quick, which means that manufacturers can move from one
product to any other effortlessly. This technique reduces costs by minimizing warehouse needs.
Benefits
JIT is a strategy to decrease the number of goods held in high volumes at one time, and
this has numerous advantages:
1. Less space needed: With quick turnaround of stock, you don’t need as much warehouse
or storage space to store goods. This reduces the quantity of storage an organization
needs to rent or purchase, liberating up price range for other parts of the business. 2. Waste reduction: A quicker turnaround of stock prevents goods from becoming broken or
out of date while sitting in storage, lowering waste.
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 26
3. Smaller investments: JIT inventory management is suitable for smaller organizations that
don’t have the funds available to buy full-size quantities of inventory right away.
Implementation
CHIP must perform a system that analysis and figure out where bottlenecks and
inefficiencies exist. CHIP must establish strong relationships with suppliers, volunteers, and
donors. The organization should also form strong communication channels. Set in motion
effective training programs as well as appoint a management time that has an understanding of
JIT.
Biblical Integration
Every one of us human beings has been given resources, it is how we decide to organize
and spend them that will determine how we accomplish our plans, goals, and tasks God has
given to us. It is never adequate to waste time. However, we also must be wise in determining
what is “wasted time” and what is obvious “character-building time. Time management, in
reality, is active management because activities are what we plug into the days’ time slots.
However, yet in all our planning we must remember to put God first and foremost. Ephesians
5:15–16 states " Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best
use of the time, because the days are evil."
Having only what may be needed on hand is essential for an organization. Matthew 25
tells a story about ten virgins that had set out to meet the bridegroom, and five were foolish
because they were not prepared because they did not have enough olive oil to keep their lanterns
burning to find their way to the bridegroom. The other five had wisdom they each carried enough
olive oil to ensure that they would be able to find the bridegroom and he would open the gates
unto them. The whole parable was meant for us to understand that we must have wisdom, and be
ILP: CHILD HEALTH INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP 27
able to understand that it is all right to have just enough for us to be successful at planning and
time management.
Recommendations
The recommendations for Child Health Investment Partnership (CHIP) of Roanoke
Valley would be to reevaluation its current operational management as well as its supply chain
management. In order to be more effective, efficient, as well as to attract more donors. After
carefully analyzing the organizations SWOT analysis there is great potential for the organization
to reach its goals. This year the organization has suffer a great deal from not obtaining the need
funds from donors due to confusion with branding. The organization also isn’t up to date with its
technology platforms. Hence, I suggest that CHIPs management team sit down to figure out
when and how the will implement the various organizational techniques mentioned above that
would aid the organization to get in a better place with its donors, volunteers, clients,
stakeholders and so forth.
Conclusion
As a business face, a more aggressive and dynamic marketplace, the ability to evolve and
conquer demanding situations will separate those organizations as a way to thrive and those that
will decline. strategies and key standards which have been discussed in this paper will offer a
competitive benefit CHIP to maintain to thrive in an ever-changing industry. at the same time as
there is a balance among the daily needs of an organization and the long-term goals and
strategies one ought to utilize to remain aggressive, an organization should understand their
strengths and weaknesses first before deciding on enforcing any of the key concepts discussed
within this paper. Christian business leaders want to take heed on this passage. we will now not
continually have all of the proper answers on the right times. The want for studies, collaboration,

and suggest ought to be employed earlier than recommending any of the key ideas advised in this
paper.
