Ms. Smith resides in the Flatbush-Midwood area of Brooklyn. She is fluent in Persian and Hebrew. Her parents are immigrants from Iran; they left behind their careers, families and home to come to America so she and her sister could have a better future. Her parents have struggled financially as they had to start their lives over while learning a new language and adjusting to a new culture. Ms. Smith previously received a grant from the NYS Tuition Assistant Program and a Federal Pell grant, which helped manage her high tuition expenses. Unfortunately, at the time of her application she was no longer eligible for this aid due to her graduate student status. Ms. Smith resides in Midwood, NY. Her family came to the United States from Israel in xxxx. She is fluent in written and conversational Hebrew. She’s an active member of Pi Theta Epsilon Occupational Therapy Honor Society and Brooklyn Campus Hillel. She has interned at ACCESS Community Health Center leading wellness exercise groups, meal-preparation activities, and providing support in increasing functional abilities of adults with developmental and physical disabilities. She is committed to working with others to improve their overall quality-of-life and is dedicated to becoming a clinician that is able to achieve that goal. Ms. Smith does not receive any financial support from her family, and is therefore forced to juggle volunteering, school and work. Ms. Smith lives in Borough Park. She is fluent in Hebrew and Yiddish and is an active member of the Brooklyn Campus Hillel. She has volunteered at several geriatric population based nursing centers, including the Sephardic Senior Center, Coney Island Hospital and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center to name a few. She’s a part of The Student Occupational Therapy Association and a member of Pi Theta Epsilon Honors Society. Ms. Smith hopes to focus her career in the geriatric population after graduation.
