Overview-

As a manager there are many roles we need to adhere to. For this specific executive plan, I will discuss how technology impacts the healthcare field along with the different ways it can be used to reduce costs throughout the facility.

The Role of Managers and Technology-

1. Overview- Technology has been making many advancements over the last few decades which means we need to adapt to the new ways.

1. The Problem- By depending on technology It could potentially make people lazy. Relying on something to do all the work without putting any effort in can become a problem.

1. The Solution- Proper trainings to be put in place that way employees are learning how to solve an issue the “old school” way in the event that technology isn’t working.

1. Key to Success- Creating a great learning experience for all staff members who will be using technology will make the company more successful

Ways to Improve Healthcare Outcomes and Reduce Cost-

1. Overview- Healthcare facilities give their best care regardless the situation. Reducing healthcare cost while improving the overall care is important and has been something in the works for many years.

1. The Problem- There is an assumption that you can only receive good healthcare if you pay a lot of money which is not true. Every facility no matter where it is located should be giving the best care as possible with the resources they have.

1. The Solution- Only go to a hospital of emergency room is needed, use in network facilities, choose plans that work with your healthcare needs.

1. Key to Success- Take care of your health and seek medical attention right when a health concern occurs and do not wait long term.

Deficiencies in Clinical Use of Technology-

1. Overview- The lack of clinical knowledge and use of technology is an issue because it is used every day. We are in a generation where technology is always used and evolving, and we need to stay up to date with the use of it in our daily work activities.

1. The Problem- There are many changes and updates with technology on a daily basis. Security is a huge concern with all of patient records and information in the systems that can be hacked.

1. The Solution- By having a great security team and trainings for staff to be aware of things to do and not to do to make sure all security measures are being taken.

1. Key to Success- Appropriate extensive trainings to help staff be aware of the potential dangers if security isn’t taken seriously.

Technology and Medical Errors-

1. Overview- Many errors can occur when we solely rely on technology to do our work for us or not being careful when we are inputting information.

1. The Problem- Most errors occur when staff members are putting information into the computer which is something that can be easily fixed.

1. The Solution- Reviewing the information typed after it is being imputed into the computer will lessen the percentage of errors happening.

1. Key to Success- Double checking the information being submitted into the computers along with proper training on how to log everything.

Concentration on Profit Margins-

1. Overview- Medicare, Medicaid and other insurances are used to calculate the profit margins for visits after insurance plans are used.

1. The Problem- Sometimes there are input errors which makes billing issues occur. It is very common for information to be wrongly put into the system.

1. The Solution- Double check the information when it is put into the computer before submitting a claim. More work will need to be done when information is wrongfully put in therefore doing it beforehand the correct way.
